It's extremely remote, and not near any freeways or roads to any obvious destinations. From the original link:
Police discovered Ruth, a Harrisburg resident, was wanted on a felony warrant out of Avery County, North Carolina, and took him into custody.
Avery County is a rural mountain county along the Virginia border, in the northwestern part of NC. Anyone know what his connection was there?
Not sure he had the option, did he? PSU wasn’t even listed amongst the schools he choose Lehigh over.Wow kinda glad he didn't decide PSU

His school list was Lehigh, PSU, Arizona State, and Maryland. Not sure he had the option, did he? PSU wasn’t even listed amongst the schools he choose Lehigh over.
This is very unfortunate. Here’s hoping he can turn his life around.

Blue Ridge Parkway goes thru there. Also Appalachian State is about an hour away.
It's 4 hrs west of Raleigh, so not somewhere he'd pass thru while visiting Ed.
Meth man, it's meth
mean altitude of 3,510 feet or 1,070 metres it is the second-highest county east of the Mississippi behind nearby Haywood County ,
Maybe in more ways than one.
Top meth states are in the North. If you read the full police report, he was in possession among other things..."Meth" making materials. Not surprising, there was a felony warrant out down south...after all, that's meth country...
Ex-Pa. wrestling champ charged with drug possession in Cumberland County
Drugs and paraphernalia were found in the two-time state champion's car after he was taken into custody on a felony warrant out of North Carolina, East Pennsboro police said.www.pennlive.com
Santoro doesn't?Maybe if he chose Penn State he wouldn’t be in this situation? The coaching staff seems to clearly have a positive impact on many lives. I know Penn State didn’t seem to help Gavin, but there is always hope.
I work with substance use issues everyday with my work. I've seen some come back around and learn from their mistakes. I remember the write up in the local paper about Chance and he seemed to turn it around he just needed a new environment and good support.I wonder what the felony warrant crime was? Very sad. I feel bad for his whole family. In my career I dealt with so many people whose lives were destroyed by drugs. My brother, who passed away at 41, was one of them. I hate to see these stories. I will be praying for Edmond and his family. Hopefully Edmond's case along with the other cases of high profile wrestlers whose lives have been upended or snuffed out from drugs will be a warning to younger wrestlers who might be tempted to travel down that path themselves.
He also hit the rock bottom too at LHU.I work with substance use issues everyday with my work. I've seen some come back around and learn from their mistakes. I remember the write up in the local paper about Chance and he seemed to turn it around he just needed a new environment and good support.
Those states seem to be top-10 in total cases, not per capita.Top meth states are in the North.

Looks like kermit is having a pretty grand one....

So the list is pretty unhelpful. Still, we do see that of the top 10 states (total cases), Indiana, Tennessee, and North Carolina all move above New York, if we switch to per capita.
I live across the state line from Avery County. The area is very mountainous and sparsely populated. It the kind of place where an Eric Rudolph was able to hide from the FBI for 5 years. The cops stick to easy pickings and don’t interfere with interstate commerce. Let’s hope that young Edmond gets his life straightened out.mean altitude of 3,510 feet or 1,070 metres it is the second-highest county east of the Mississippi behind nearby Haywood County ,

Also cases are not necessarily indicative of production. And enforcement differences are also a factor. For example, Oregon just completely gave up.
The Imperial is a socialiologists dream lolAlso cases are not necessarily indicative of production.
State College has its share of meth labs. There were at least 2 at the old Imperial Motor Inn downtown (not including other drug busts there).
Don't know if there are any other states in the same bucket, but convicted felons don't have to register with the authorities in Oregon. Not surprisingly, Oregon is attractive to convicted felons. And enforcement differences are also a factor. For example, Oregon just completely gave up.

For their football teams.Florida Mississippi and Nevada require felons to register.
What he needs to worry about is federal charged. Interstate commerce is no joke and the fbi loves to get involved with this shitThis is pretty disturbing news, to say the least. I don't know what the current legal atmosphere is like in PA, but if this had happened in a state like Texas, Edmond would be looking at doing a considerable amount of hard time. I hope he is able to retain a good defense attorney to help him through this mess.
Register. I never heard of that just felons who are sexual predator s in paDon't know if there are any other states in the same bucket, but convicted felons don't have to register with the authorities in Oregon. Not surprisingly, Oregon is attractive to convicted felons.
You might have this backward -- don't those states require their football teams to register as felons? For their football teams.
I'm not so sure of that. If he catches a manufacturing charge, that carries a typical prison sentence of usually 5 to 7 years regardless of priors...If they charge him with simple possession then he is fine and won't do any serious time...and if it's possession with intent to deliver, he's probably looking at a lengthy year or so in County jail, but would avoid prisonIf this is his first time then he’ll be alright. A mason jar full of weed and brownies with thc and mushrooms lol. That’s just a waste of weed. The mushrooms overpower EVERYTHING. What weight is this kid? I’d take him.
If he went across state lines that's federal and the pain get real with those mandatory minimums for realI'm not so sure of that.
