So much size on both teams. Lots of play above the rim with contention for just about every rebound. PSU will have to play a A+ game to beat the Illini.

That Illinois team is basically an entirely new team from last season. Also, PSU will have to play their A+ game to win most of the Big 10 games, and probably every road game, which I don’t see happening on most nights; I think that PSU’s record is totally inflated by playing a lot of mediocre and poor teams.

How do you explain the rout of Purdue, Debbie Downer?

I’m beginning to think that Purdue isn’t a great team this season based on their last three games; the loss of Edey is huge. In hindsight, that was a game that PSU probably should’ve won and they did.

How about close losses to Rutgers and Clemson?

Yeah, but those were winnable games and we lossed both of them; we have to start winning games like that, especially when one of the games was on a neutral court. Winning those games is often the difference between making the tournament or missing it. Just today, Memphis, which lost last week to Arkansas State, went into Clemson and beat them. And Rutgers had been in a nose dive when we played them.

You may be right about Purdue being overrated but they are still good and beat Alabama who is really good.

I think we could win all of our B10 home games. We won't but a 7-3 home record is very achievable. On the flip side, we could lose every B10 road game but I think we can scrape together 3 wins. We have a good team who are well coached. By the way I am thrilled at the job Rhoades has done since he arrived.

That puts us at 10-10 in conference. Out of conference we should be 10-1. That equates to a 20-11 record going to the B10 tourney. I think that is good enough to go dancing even if we lose in the first round of the B10 tourney.

I see your glass is half empty. I prefer President Reagan’s story about the boy shoveling through a pile of manure who said, “there has to be a pony in here somewhere.”

Your prediction about how the schedule will play out is my hope and probably best case scenario; that would be similar to 2023. However, even in 2023, we probably had to win at least one if not two Big 10 Tournament games to be assured a spot, which we did.

Just left a family Holiday party where I talked with a cousin's kid who is a Senior at Rutgers. He was at our game and said that "it was as loud as I've ever heard it," "Penn State is a really good team," and "if there was a minute more PSU would've won."

RU has 2 star Frosh who could be top 10 NBA picks. Would've been a nice win but not a bad loss.

A comparison that a Tennessee Alum friend always makes that I think is spot on is that "James Franklin is the Rick Barnes of football."

While as a Vol he has no love for Vanderbilt- he is part of a family with PSU alums- so he is not just throwing shade at James.

Both run as clean as most programs and are typically highly ranked with some top flight talent.

BUT- there is usually some achillies heel/ head scratching move that ends up ending their seasons short of the goal.

Both fanbases appreciate their talents, but are perpetually frustrated not getting over the hump.

Maybe this year theu both take that step???

Konan looks much better than I expected so far this year but I'm still concerned that bigger stronger players in the BiG will push him around. I hope I'm wrong.
