Final X

I bet that woman yells "We're still the best, we won 34 titles, until someone catches us, we run college wrestling"
That’s Kyle Crutchmer on Twitter despite the fact they (and he) won nothing while he was there except for:

1. Worst tattoo award
2. Most names on roster who sound like the names of Yellowstone cast members

Wow

I’ve never really liked Retherford, but it’s amazing what 10 seconds in time can do in showing a persons character, and that character literally change another person’s perspective instantaneously.

That person I’m referring to is me.

I am now officially a Zain Retherford fan.

It's actually hilarious how much he hangs onto that. I'd say the majority of Oklahoma State fans know it doesn't mean anything and they're tired that they haven't won anything since 2006 and their recent recruiting isn't guaranteed to result in a title either.

Sure sounded like a female voice with an apparent walk by verbal F.U. to Zain during the tail end of his interview. Probably a fair inference that it was a J.O. fanatic. Regardless, it was uncalled for and I would think USA wrestling might revoke her access privileges.

Within the hillbilly community, FU is a term of endearment
I heard a certain program is paying these fans to fire off FUs at PSU/NLWC guys. FUs are 10 bucks a pop. Lying cheating bastard will get you 15. The big insult and best cash is calling them a politician lover. 20 bucks and a free week of inner circle. I know this for a fact

I think she also says "you didn't win that match" towards the end which would also be indicative of a JO fan.

At least they have an excuse and just aren't stupid.
Gallagher-Iba Arena does sell alcoholic beverages in the form of beer
– there is a decent list ranging from the basic Budweiser products ($8 for 12oz) to craft beer such as local Stilly Wheat to Houston's Texas Karbach selections of Love Street Kolsch and Hopadillo ($10 for 19.2oz)
Passionate and drunk..

Yeah…unbelievably poor sportsmanship from an Okie State loser. Did you notice that Flo cut the interview off before that last 20 secs (why are they protecting the classless Okie chick)? Need to watch the YouTube version to hear the ending. What a class act Zain is.
Perhaps because they have a contract with Oklahoma State to broadcast all of their meets? ;)

Where have you been? Zain has been one of the most humble and classiest guys in the sport since he first donned the PSU singlet almost a decade ago. Win or lose.

Do they still have that contract? I thought that was just for a year or two. They are definite OSU/Iowa homers though…and PSU haters…though there is grudging respect.

What’s the over/under on the number of times they continue to pick Daton over RBY?

There was also a big tailgate before and between sessions hosted by the Cowboy Wrestling Club and NWHOF. By the Finals, a lot of the fans were pretty tuned up. I think Gross got it the worst. After the 2nd match, he was boo'ed off the platform while being called a "f****** joke" by some guys sitting around me and my son. He took it in stride. He looked over in my direction and must have seen that my son and I were about the only people clapping for him and he smiled and shrugged his shoulders. But needless to say, the OSU fans were pretty classless overall. They did, however, act alright while Gross was receiving his plaque.

Crazy world, he’s not even good nuf to make JrTeam now.
I think any college in the USA would take Mendez. It would be scarier if one school got them both. What would be absolutely frightening and totally unfair is if that same school also got the clear #1 Heavyweight in the country. They would be the All-time Recruiting Champs for sure.

3:00 in. You don’t see an Ok State shirt, but you can make the logical leap that she’s a Cowboy fan

My only problem with that interview is Zane did it with his mouthpiece in. Granted you could understand what he said, but I never understand why guys do that.

On a separate note, to those bashing JO for not being offensive and trying to score points, I think you're not being fair to Zain and his defense. Those guys battled hard and I don't think a lack of trying to score was an issue at all, minus the last minute of the 2nd match. JO was on his bike then trying to conserve the lead, which we've seen a ton of guys do. Nothing new, yet still frustrating when you're on the other side.

That was Pantaleo"s girlfriend who yelled that. She is still salty that his no offensive attacks style only works on JO to win matches. That said JO should not be crying about politics, they did him a huge favor with that seeding, and thanking Zain for taking care of Alec so he could even make it to Final X. He lost to Alec three straight times I believe, with zero takedowns in the process too? I mean Pantaleo or Deakin never beat Zain, yet he was the four seed behind them.

Also, Zain is the most humble wrestler you will ever find. I can not think of any other wrestler who has shown more class than Zain.

This has nothing to do with that but as a child my father took the family out to Norman Oklahoma for the 1977 NCAA championships and during the heavyweight finals a very large woman resembling Aunt Jemima kept yelling "beat that aggie", "take down that aggie" and "aggie go home", and I had no idea what she was saying...I asked and asked and finally some local fan Informed me that she was rooting against Oklahoma State heavyweight Jimmy Jackson. "Aggie" was slang for cowboy, as they used to be known as the Aggies before they changed the nickname to Cowboys. She apparently was an Oklahoma fan, and they sincerely hate Oklahoma State. Back then OU was far higher up the food chain than they are these times.

I love me some Zain! As a watermelon farmer, he is one of my best customers.
Zain is the real deal, both as a wrestler and as a decent human being. I had a chance to meet him at the US Open in Las Vegas about 5 years ago and we had an interesting conversation comparing PSU wrestling when I was in school to what they do today.

I think the coolest gesture he ever made was right after he won his first NCAA title. As he was walking out of the arena, he stopped and handed his head gear to a little boy who was cheering for him. I’ll bet that kid was bragging to his friends for weeks afterwards.
