Anything past the top 10 doesn't really matter, but I agree with you. We have two quality wins and two losses with an injured QB. Should be #20-23 IMHO.We got snubbed
2 ranked wins over 22 and 13.
Wisconsin who we beat has the same record and only one ranked win
Minny has no ranked wins and a loss to Bowling green.
it really doesn’t matter but resume wise we should be somewhere in there
Lose early you are okay, on a losing streak like us, not okay. Not sure I get Miss St all the way up at 17 with 3 losses?
Same could also be said for us. He is a great O Coordinator.Sparty, with the way they are currently playing and motivated, could give a lot of teams a lot of problems. Oregon with and without Joe Moorhead are two very different teams.
Joe is back with the Ducks and it shows.
It doesn't make a lot of sense. We've even got John Urschel on the committee. Gary Barta (U of Iowa AD/head of the committee) must be mad at us over CJF's comments following the Iowa game.First off, I don't expect to be ranked in December. I can't imagine this team rallies to win four straight games. If we go 3-1, we might sneak into the top 20.
That said, it's hard to look at our resume and NOT have us in the top 25 right now. Wisconsin--with 3 losses--is ranked higher than we are. We beat Wisconsin on their field. San Diego State lost to a decent Fresno team last week. Yes, it's their only loss...but do you think they'd be 7-1 with our schedule?
They can argue..."The Illinois loss is inexcusable and your resume doesn't matter." But...Minnesota--with a far weaker schedule overall and a paltry 6-2 record--lost to Bowling Green...a team about as bad as Illinois.
We beat #13 and #21. We lost by 3 and 9 points to #22 and #5 (both on the road). Few teams have had as difficult of a schedule as ours.
I"m not saying we're good. I'm saying a lot of other teams suck as much as we do...and these rankings are quite arbitrary.
Whole thing is stupid. Can you imagine cincy runs the table and finishes out of the 4? Not that i think they belong in he top 4, but they sure as hell have an argument to be heard that should not be an issue. For gosh sakes, make it 8 and solve the problem.
Then there's our guys who have significant wins and a great game at osu and top 22/23 in the 2 major polls... and we aren't in the top 25? Please. Drop this BS and lets just play the consensus top 8 in a playoff.
Problem solved.
Why is Bama at #2 ahead of all those undefeated teams and even some 1 loss teams? What win do they have better than Cincy over ND, Michigan St over Michigan, or Oregon over Ohio State? 🤔 - so much better a ol fashion SEC slab o' wins they shined out an actual L.
Yep, if you lose early and then put together a winning streak, it leaves the impression that you're improving - right or wrong. It's been that wat foreverLose early you are okay, on a losing streak like us, not okay. Not sure I get Miss St all the way up at 17 with 3 losses?
Meh. This season is, unfortunately, shaping up as a "coulda, shoulda" season for me. Who knows where the team would be if Clifford had not gone down, not to mention Mustipher?First off, I don't expect to be ranked in December. As usual, the SEC is top-heavy. Beyond Alabama and Georgia...it's not all that wonderful. Plus they all get to play a scrimmage game in November. Alabama's is New Mexico State this year. But the conference has a large chorus of media cheerleaders, which serves it well.
By the way, Oklahoma also got dissed big-time. They've won, what, 17 games in a row or something...and ranked no higher than 8th. Looking at their schedule, I'm not seeing opportunities for them to make a major move. Baylor and Oklahoma State are top-20 opponents but neither seems like a marquis win.
No...they have a great offensive line.Sparty, with the way they are currently playing and motivated, could give a lot of teams a lot of problems. Oregon with and without Joe Moorhead are two very different teams.

Same as now. This program goes nowhere until a new head coach with an offensive line emphasis takes over.Meh. This season is, unfortunately, shaping up as a "coulda, shoulda" season for me. Who knows where the team would be if Clifford had not gone down, not to mention Mustipher?
