Flow New D1 Ranking for next year

I listened once since Willie left....wasn't the same. I haven't missed them TBH...

So Askren gives AB a 10% chance of winning a title next year (as heard on FRL).

I know I’m a homer, but what am I missing?

Actually I like Askren because he’s almost no holds barred. He’s going to get them into trouble one day, but it’s lively.

It’s hilarious that Pyles used to get legitimately mad when Willie sporadically cursed. Meanwhile, Askren is cursing left and right and crickets from CP

That seems low. Throwing rankings out, Max Dean does seem like the favorite on paper if for no other reason than that we've never seen Brooks wrestle at NCAAs. I personally think Bolen is very good, and has excellent post grad partners in Walz and Haught (not that AB doesn't, we obviously know what he's working with).

Beyond that, if there were Vegas odds even non-PSU fans would put Brooks ahead of Hidlay, Nino, DePrez, and Caffey. There are no big names coming off redshirt that will make a splash unless they've drastically improved. There is a possibility we see Amine and/or Kemerer moving up.

So, depending on how you view Bolen, 10% is too low. If you throw in Amine or Kemerer, it may get down to 20 or even 15.

10% is higher than 0%. Good for Askren. Gets a meh from me, Aaron's focused on proving them all wrong ... but still has to earn it.

I'm kind of perplexed at how they ranked Starocci so high, but Aaron Brooks so low. And then the Kerkvliet ranking is a head scratcher.

Their rankings for 184 make no sense. Brooks is the returning champion of the toughest conference in the country. Sorry, ACC, but that's the truth. He was seeded 3rd for NCAAs, and one of the guys seeded in front of him graduated.

As usual, you are the voice of reason.

What is frustrating about Flo’s rankings is their attitude that they are the result of some pristine, unassailable process. It is especially frustrating to hear them speak as if the ratings in a new season have been earned and are not projections of any sort. Nothing has been earned in 2020-21 yet. Everyone is 0-0. Despite this, they preach about the sanctity of their process which without any valid rationale refuses to consider HS or international results while considering results at different weights or from years before.

For example, an argument can be made as to who to rank higher between Nick Lee and Eirman. However, Flo contends that it has to be Eirman because he beat Lee 3 years ago when he was in his third year at Missouri and Lee his first while ignoring the freestyle result from 7 months ago as well as Lee’s improvements and results from last year. Eirman’s most recent results were 28-4 and a 3rd place finish. Lee was 20-1 and seeded 2 and considered a heavy favorite to at least make the finals if not win.

Fink, that should surprise no one, Eirman now wrestles for Iowa, CP is an Iiwa hometown well flo is.

Rankings are like those food advertisements that make things look so good. Then you get your food. Lol. They are fun to look at and discuss, that’s it.
I would've said like heroin.

Though to be fair: rankings do not need to be injected to cause hallucinations and severe mood swings.

I would bet you every single ranking service puts Eierman above Lee.

And they’d all be wrong. Nick will smoke Eirman again. And, Nick will wrestle for a spot on the Olympic team next spring while Eirman watches the trials on Flo.
The egg man will still have his awesome tats though (#worsttattoosoutsidethecellblock)

This year has the potential to be extremely exciting, unless the guys can take a second Olympic rs in a row. If not then there are four or five stacked teams. Should be a lot of fun. If they don't let covid **** it up. Maybe that means no early tournaments or full schedules but that doesn't mean they can't have the tourney at the end.

CP and his alleged Iowa homerism had nothing to do with last year's rankings nor this year's preseason rankings. Last year was all me (Spey) and this upcoming year it will be me and Bray. So please direct your invective at us and not CP, he is innocent.

Also the ACC was much better than the Big Ten at 184 last year, that's not even debatable. And Starocci's ranking does look weird when juxtaposed against Brooks ranking. We talked about it on the most recent episode of Who's #1 the Show.

As always, appreciate the feed back and thanks for reading. Very much looking forward to watching this next season with you maniacs!
