Football GAMEDAY THREAD: Penn State versus Oregon in 2024 B1G Championship

I agree--I hate the call--but the call was to Wallace and he gave him a shot
And we didn't need a bomb. We had 1:50 to go and second and one. You don't throw that in that situation if the wr is blanketed which he was. And then Allar threw a bad ball. Allar played hard and made some plays but he killed us with those two picks and missing Warren when he was wide open.

Exactly. That was dialed-up. Don't blame Allar. This is CJF. Remember USC loss in 2016. Throw the long ball for INT to lose game. CJF can't just move ball down the field and use clock. He is in love with stats "explosive plays". He has explosive sh*ts in big games.
Bull.

That play call makes no sense to me. We would have just scored and either missed 2 pt and game over or tied it up and given Oregon plenty of time for go ahead FG.

Going for 2 early was so dumb and then followed up with a horrible pay call late.

2 big turnovers in big games. OSU in the endzone and then to end the game vs Oregon and who was in the middle of both of them.

I'm sorry but Wallace has to at least break up those passes. He was right there both times.

CJF shit the bed. The defense had tough 1st half but played with one arm tied behind back due to refs. They still put us in position to tie it yet CJF can't help but choke.
If the defense and Allar’s two bad decisions are all CJF, then fine. Otherwise dumb take.

Wallace just didn't make a play on it.

He couldn't get there. Whether it's his speed, the CBs hand on his neck line, or Allar a touch too far, Wallace couldn't get there. He tried to high point it, but out of his reach.

It is what it is. We played better today than vs OSU. That's a positive going into the playoff.

lol--that's your complaint--the threw a 50/50 ball--his WR has to make a play
You all loved Trace for doing that
On one hand, Trace had receivers to get a 50/50 ball so that's not a fair comparison.
On the other, that was the play call and it was ridiculous. There was no justifiable reason to call that play...none.

I can't wait for the clowns to defend the play calling in key moments. This is the only thing I've complained about for 5 years. I've never denigrated a kid. Never complained about an athletic mistake. But grown ass men making mid 6 figures to 7 figure salaries making these decisions is absurd.
JF should do the F'ing analytics on the outcomes of him using the analytics to make decisions in key moments. 🤦🤦🤦

How many WRs does Oregon have that can find separation? Whatever number that is, it's that many more than PSU. Our WRs are not open unless it's busted coverage or someone falls down.
Allar made some amazing plays, but anyone who thinks those two throws weren’t extremely bad throws is being intellectually dishonest. You can’t win with those two huge errors.

It's absolutely mind boggling to watch coaches go for two thus putting their team under the gun going forward. There is just no need for it. It blunts momentum also. Just dirt dumb.

Every single one of CJF’s bad habits returned in the second half. It’s like a compulsion with him, just has to waste timeouts, call unnecessarily risky playcalls, and psyche the whole team out.
Wtf - coach did not lose the game. Two turnovers and a missed fiddle goal did. Oregon outplayed and beat us plain and simple.

I'm fine with bashing the play call but nothing Drew did was wrong there. He missed what should or could have been a TD to Warren in the third but that was really his only horrible play today

Who's defending the play call?

They even said at the half Dinkins drifted upfield leading to the pick. The second one was a designed 50/50 ball. This isn't complicated.
