Football GAMEDAY THREAD: Penn State vs. Michigan

Singleton just got run over trying to pass block what looked like a LB. He needs to take a seat and show that he can do it in practice as he sure does not look ready.

Then you risk him transferring. It's tough but after today Lee needs to be getting more reps.

We already know Franklin's post game press conference:

"I have a ton of respect for XXXX"

EDIT for a glaring omission: "I'm proud of this guy, I'm proud of that guy,......."

"We'll grow from this...."

"I take responsibility"

EDIT for another omission" We're moving on to Minny, Minny, Minny"

Repeat, repeat, repeat.......

Is PSU this bad, is Michigan this good or did the coaching staff just do a terrible job managing the bye week? Or all three?

I went over to the MGoBlog board and all are saying how they had a much, much harder time with Iowa, Maryland, and Indiana. Not good for PSU

All 3
Michigan is legit (not sure why so many here wouldn't buy that)
We aren't very good but should still win 10 games
Coaching staff was not prepared

Bottom line, when Diaz knew Michigan would do nothing but run, yet, he gave up over 400 yards on the ground. There is no excuse for that.

Nonsense. Our lbr's are no where to be found. Our D line is very deep.
Look at both plays again. The LB was in position until the center cleared him on one play. The guard on another.

Im not saying our MLB is good. But our DL is light and shallow. We do not occupy the OL in a way a D needs to at this level. Michigan has a DE that is bigger than all but one of our DT’s.

The LBs took bad angles all day long. All day.

I’m not sure what is going on with Yurcich, but our offense is definitely not the offense that he was calling at Oklahoma State. And we have better players and athletes than he had at Oklahoma State
Which leads to the question is Franklin interfering or affecting his play calling?

It’s been 9 years with multiple assistants on both sides of the ball and multiple recruiting classes of players. Eventually the spotlight has to be put on the 1 constant through all those years- Franklin.

Not to disappointed. Never expected to win. Franklin still sucks, Built his record on bad teams and can’t beat anyone with a pulse.

We could have stacked the box. We never did. Michigan ran for over 400 yards. End of discussion.

I understand now. We have an elite line, but we needed to stack the box.

look. In no way am I implying the MLB’s are good. But the amount of plays Michigan could put an OL on the MLB was astounding. We do not have a big line. And with 4 players it’s not deep. Sean Spencer liked 6-8 deep and guys this size. This doesn’t work without more of them and 300 yards rushing is OL dominance.

Just got home but I saw him put Drew Allar and just as I was leaving the restaurant. Why would you put this kid in there to drain his confidence. Nobody on the team was playing football and you're putting a 5 star quarterback in here to make him look stupid. I'm leaning towards changing my opinion on Franklin. He makes decisions that are questionable.. If you look at the star ratings of the player. Michigan and Penn state were very equal . The difference was the coaching at every level. This was not a top 25 team out there today. BOBbwas a much better coach with a lot less talent.

There certainly needs to be a ‘come to Jesus’ moment with him, the O and D lines, and the coaches. The lack of simple fundamentals like blocking and tackling is ridiculous.

Unfortunately, I don’t see it happening. JF will start quoting some obscure analytic nonsense in his press conference, give non answers, and say we just need to put this game behind us. The problem is he never learns from or corrects the mistakes. He just moves on to Minnesota…Minnesota…Minnesota.

Then we’ll see much of the same nonsense next week.

It's not that the DL is elite. They're not but the LBs were much worse. When they had space to make a room, which was often, they weren't in the right position because they took bad angles. That includes Jacobs. There's a lot of issues but it's odd you seem to be focused on the DL. The LBs are worse
