Harbaugh suspended for rest of regular season

I don't necessarily agree, in that i sort of think about what's going on now as akin to an injunction designed to minimize imminent potential harm, rather than for the ultimate punishment (which Big may sort of leave to the ncaa). Here, interim relief is warranted inasmuch as the record - or at least what's out there in the public domain - suggests there is info of potential benefit that the staff has now, for games being played now. maybe i'm wrong to think about it that way but that's the way i think about it.
Also, I think the late Friday afternoon decision was designed to avoid a tro

Question for legal experts, can he file an appeal, requesting a hearing and still be allowed to coach until his appeal is heard?

Big Ten says no, lawyers say yes. Stay tuned!

"Like all members of the Big Ten Conference, we are entitled to a fair, deliberate, and thoughtful process to determine the full set of facts before a judgment is rendered. Today’s action by Commissioner Tony Petitti disregards the Conference's own handbook, violates basic tenets of due process, and sets an untenable precedent of assessing penalties before an investigation has been completed. We are dismayed at the Commissioner's rush to judgment when there is an ongoing NCAA investigation – one in which we are fully cooperating.”

Commissioner Petitti’s hasty action today suggests that this is more about reacting to pressure from other Conference members than a desire to apply the rules fairly and impartially. By taking this action at this hour, the Commissioner is personally inserting himself onto the sidelines and altering the level playing field that he is claiming to preserve. And, doing so on Veteran’s Day – a court holiday – to try to thwart the University from seeking immediate judicial relief is hardly a profile in impartiality. To ensure fairness in the process, we intend to seek a court order, together with Coach Harbaugh, preventing this disciplinary action from taking effect."

The ruling is non appealable - so states the letter. Of course they can try to go outside the big ten process via court system

Clearly they are letting the NCAA do the dirty work but shocked BT even did a thing.

There's no wrong way to think about it.
To me, this isn't real action and I think Michigan will still fight it. Even I thought he'd at least be suspended but this isn't even a suspension.
Seems to me he gets to coach all week but not go to the game. Someone else will have to signal to punt on 4th down or to go for a field goal. What a drastic penalty. OMG. Everyone is still laughing at the B1G.

If I understand it correctly, the Big Ten told Michigan it violated the Sportsmanship clause by violating NCAA rules on in-person scouting and video scouting.

Michigan didn’t deny doing it.

Michigan didn’t even deny Harbaugh knew. They instead said evidence hasn’t been presented showing he knew.

So the Big Ten said since you don’t deny it, your program is penalized.

Hard to understand Michigan finding that unfair.

He won't be on the field or in the press box tomorrow. Not a big deal? Maybe and maybe not. Bowling Green stayed in it until halftime without Harbaugh.

I'd encourage everyone to read this...really good details of the case for this suspension.

Impressed that the conference pulled this all together this quickly while still dotting their i's and crossing the t's.

Holy crap! Thanks for posting this. It's utterly damning!

The evidence presented in that document shows clearly that Michigan has run a rogue football program starting in the 2021 season and continuing well into 2023...until it all blew up in their faces.

Michigan's gaslighting Useful Idiots will of course continue to deny and deflect, but it is what it is...or was what it was: a study in rule-breaking and cheating.

I guess the biggest issue is that it is one fewer coach out there evaluating on the fly and trying to make adjustments.

UM is filing for a "temporary retraining order" which would postpone the suspension until there is more time to look at evidence, crime and punishment. UM has said that they are filing for the TRO so stay tuned.

Possibly throwing out punishment before dotting I's and crossing t.s.

Good. Let him coach with an anvil over his head.

What is lost in all of this is the fact that with that letter and the evidence that is coming out, how does the NCAA not act further in the future?

Michigan is going to get hammered. The Big Ten has placed the ball in the NCAA's court. It also mentions further evidence not disclosed due to confidentiality.

Maybe but nothing in the letter says that and it's still months away.

UM reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where the maid slowly stops doing work and finally just comes over to give Jerry sex and still expects to get paid.

In the end, it is SO FUNNY that Um got preferential treatment from the B1G for decades and now can't accept just punishment for cheating. Its like that GF that starts asking for money and you give some. This goes on for months. And then when they ask and you finally say no, you are the bad guy.

So punishment will coincide with their brutal schedule next season. This game needs to hurry up and get here so we can be done with them for the 36 months or so.

A slap on the wrist. Michigan football should be given the death penalty and Harbaugh should be jailed for decades.

It's a huge deal: Your main and sole game day decision maker is gone.
I DON'T LIKE THIS AT ALL. The Michigan team will come extra focused and motivated to win one for the Gipper.

Further, it's a rinky-dinky suspension. Either fully suspend him for the rest of the season or not at all.

Harbaugh is nobody's Gipper. His own players think he is a weirdo

Is Lance Armstrong advising Michigan on how to respond to accusations of cheating? Cause they seem to be following his playbook.

Yeah, it may/should
It doesn't interfere with them winning a title this year though and that's always been there hope
I'm just shocked that some (obviously not everyone) are acting like this is a huge penalty

Many of their games they were in it until halftime. Then suddenly they would blow them out in the third quarter. Stalions verifying over halftime he had the signs down? Probably.

Whats worse having read the document is that Michigan charges the Big Ten and the commissioner, of bias and prejudgment because of an absence of evidence. Laughably ridiculous as the Commish sent them all of the evidence he had at had(which we all know is expansive and detailed) to which Michigan says "we haven't seen evidence."
