Harbaugh suspended for rest of regular season

The B10 cannot speak for the NCAA but this letter will get dissected by every major conference and news outlets. Pressure on NCAA will mount. Michigan refusing to even look at evidence isnt a good look either.
But the NCAA can't expedite it. Michigan hasn't even received notification and will get 90 days after that. They're eligible for the Big Ten Championship game (which Harbaugh can coach in) and the Playoff. Harbaugh's still pissed but his is largely inaction.

The ruling is non appealable - so states the letter. Of course they can try to go outside the big ten process via court system
Do the courts govern B10 football? No.

The Big10 makes sthe B10 schedule and if they wanted could declair Michigan's game for the rest of the season to be canceled and and their previously scheduled opponents the winners. It's their league, and I hope they do just that. But they are a squeemish group and won't do much.

Chance Harbaugh goes home tonight? There's a Netjets plane now scheduled for 7:09 PM departure for Pontiac. Looks like a quick turn as it's coming in from Houston and is still in the air.

edit to add: After looking at the filed plan, the flight was changed from Milwaukee to Pontiac at 4:21pm.

Similar to UM trying to lift via restraining order, can PSU get a restraining order on Jim from PA judge claiming banned from football facilities per BT ruling? Just trying to complicate situation..

Is Lance Armstrong advising Michigan on how to respond to accusations of cheating? Cause they seem to be following his playbook.

No. Michigan doesn’t require coaching on how to act like giant douchebags.

Does anybody really believe that the Big would do anything to actually cause harm to MI or OSU? The conference exists for those 2 teams. This so called punishment is designed so that the NCAA can say ok MI took care of it so let's all move along. Nothing to see here.

This whole thing is a typical conference cluster flop. “Punish” the offender with no real penalty at all while successfully giving the finger to the rest of the members who had the nerve to expect consequences from the infractions.
Easy to say this is what’s expected from the B1G, but I think the SEC, ACC, Big 12and PAC would all handle a similar situation in a similar manner.
If I’m making decisions for PSU and other B1G schools, I’d join Michigan in seeking an injunction against this worthless penalty, then demand the NCAA issue a penalty that fits the crime.

Actually not a good sign for PSU. According to the betting gurus, when teams lose a star player or coach the trend is they step up for one game. It actually can give them an emotional boost.
I’m hoping they’re using that anger energy tonight. Seriously.

Jimmy will be at the game tomorrow. Right now there’s a car pulling into the driveway of a house owned by a judge painted maze and blue. He’ll sign whatever TRO is placed in front of him. Even if it’s a blank sheet of paper.

Why is he able to coach during the week? That is a joke. And why just the regular season. B10 was scared to bring down the hammer.

Hopefully him not being there Saturday throws them off but I doubt it. The whole game plan is done and he can communicate with them up to kickoff and at halftime. Heck how do they know not totally through the game. Just beat these annoying weasels. The whole country has to be pulling for us. You can't get a program or coach more unlikable than Michigan.

I don’t think this is the end of it from the conference perspective, and definitely not wrt the NCAA. It’s a suspension while they continue to investigate. You’re not going to get fireworks (if they come) until after the season.

The day after the call with the NCAA, the Big Ten said the NCAA provided it a “master spreadsheet” relating to the sign-stealing operation. Per the conference, the spreadsheet contained “a large and detailed chart listing the names of various individuals assigned to attend” football games, “notations showing whether in-person attendance at non-conference games would be necessary depending on different win/loss scenarios,” “the names of individuals assigned to certain cities and locations” and “monetary amounts associated with certain assigned games.”

Bye,bye Michigan..people, locations and payments now confirmed by NCAA

The way to make this a level playing field:

Some enterprising banquet server laces Michigan’s breakfast buffet with laxatives.

Top ten things for Harbaugh to do tomorrow:

10. Rent an RV and stay in the ORV lot
9. Eighteen holes at Toftrees
8. Creamery followed by selfie at the Nittany Lion statue
7. Hike Mt. Nittany
6. Tour the PSU Sports HOF museum
5. Pick up a non-resident hunting license and head out to Gamelands
4. Happy Valley Brewing Company
3. Check out the fall foliage at Black Moshannon State Park
2. Work the phones calling NFL GM’s looking for employment
1. Catch a flight to Columbus and scout Ohio St since it’s apparently a nothing penalty to do so

Very doubtful...I'm sure he'll be meeting with the team in the morning, and trying to cram in any other prep that they might need now that he won't be there.

I agree this is likely not the end.
But when the NCAA finally acts, don’t be surprised if it decides Michigan has already paid a significant price with this “suspension,” so additional penalties will be limited: Harbaugh can not be on the field for the opening kickoff for the first three games of 2024.

I think they’re in much bigger trouble than that. They’re still also investigating the Covid recruiting violations and dishonesty about it. They’re going to add things together into something major.

If you think that is actually true you have a lot to learn.

This is such a nothing burger when you dissect it. He can easily be calling or texting their coaches in the press box during game. Address the team via cell phone at half time. Who is checking or that may just be allowed.

Look at it this way....if the baseline is a 100 meaning everything normal. Minus 10 because he is not on the sidelines then plus 20 for Michigan galvanizing behind this and their "us against the world" crap. They are actually better off in my opinion.

Lest we forget about evidence not released due to confidentiality.

Sports being on the up is a major issue. Think Black Sox Scandal.

At the least, without another thing being done Michigan's validity is questioned and the fact B10 did something and published why establishes cheating went down.

Michigan aint talking their way out of this.

MI doesn't have to talk it's way out of it with the Big. The Big has spoken. No real punishment. As for the joke called the NCAA, it just has to say the Big took care of it.

I think it’s the opposite since they’ve been completely non cooperative and also have the ongoing recruiting investigation that they’ve also been non cooperative for.
