Herbie and Fowler

I did'nt see a major push off from PF, that would have been really ticky tack, but Reid was WAY early and absolutely deserved to be flagged. No big deal, as I thought Michigan owned the whistles in the 2nd half right from the opening kickoff.
PF gave Hudson (I think) a hard shove to the chest while racing past him. But those two were mixed up until then, with Hudson trying to keep PF from blowing past him. I guess those who wanted an OPI call thought PF should be penalized for beating Hudson and overpowering his efforts at PI. But Hudson was beat. So from where I was looking, it was a TD UNLESS Hudson succeeded in DPI or if PF had just dropped the perfectly thrown ball. I think it was the right non-call. I was also ok with the holding call on Hamler's run-back and they had to give Patterson the TD in the scrum. The officiating wasn't perfect but it was good and balanced enough that the teams decided the game. And it was a good game.

Fowler would be the perfect one to help reshape the narrative.

Folks, the narrative is not going to change anytime soon. I wish I was wrong about that, but it is what it is.

I sometimes go on to another program's message board because one of my kids went to that school. This program is not a rival of Penn State--they have probably not played Penn State in over 30 years. On that board, they have a weekly thread about the upcoming games of the week.

Once in awhile, when the "Ped State" game is discussed, the thread devolves into a bunch of posts denigrating Paterno and Penn State. A couple of weeks ago, it got particularly bad. So I simply posted a question about what everyone thought about Malcom Gladwell's take on the Penn State situation in his recent book. I figured that having an unbiased person like Gladwell publish something that questioned the narrative might open some eyes.

Clearly, not one of these people had read his book or what Gladwell had to say, but several of them proceeded to trash Gladwell as being a hack. The implication being that whatever Gladwell had to say, it was worthless anyway. Not one post even asked about what Gladwell's position was--they wanted to attack the messenger, rather than even consider his viewpoint. People do not care--they have already formed their opinion, and not Fowler or anyone else is going to change it.

It will be at least another 30 years before there is any chance of changing the narrative.

Thanks for the pointer to this. That was fun to listen to.

In case anyone wants to check it out, I think this link will get you there:
Chris Fowler Instagram Nightcap Recap
They are all worth watching, not just the one after the PSU game. I almost forgot that in this week's version Herbie's son was outed as a Penn State fan. He said that PSU was his #2 favorite behind only OSU. When asked if who he'd root for in a game between PSU and Clemson, he said PSU. He has twin brothers that play at Clemson. :D
