Koa was a forgotten member of our team until he was called into action as a LB, even though this may not be his natural or preferred position. He was on the 2nd string DB team, until all 3 starting LB's went down to injury. He unselfishly agreed to play where ever he was needed. I knew from the day he signed with Penn State that Farmer could be a special player. I just love now that he makes those end around blitzes look so easy when bull rushing the unsuspecting QB from his blindside. Koa also brings speed when playing against fast teams like he did against OSU. Keep up the great play Koa! You just could land yourself a spot on Sundays in a few years.

he has always been one of our best athletes, but probably was more of a natural OFF player than DEF. his first try at LB didnt seem to work so wound up in the log jam in DB. now LB 2.0 seems to be working really well. he is much more instinctive and has serious speed to do special things. he really is playing the sweeps well. Koa and Smith development are some nice by products of all the injuries.

I agree that Koa and Smith well benefited by the LB injuries and were given the chance to show their abilities when many thought we would collapse!

Doubt there is enough depth next year but would love Cam Brown to be able to RS next season

Although Koa Farmer was a wildcat QB in HS, he was recruited by colleges to play D and was a California all-state DB.

DB Koa Farmer (Notre Dame, Sherman Oaks) 6-2, 205, Sr.It’ll be interesting to see if Koa grows into a linebacker when he gets to Colorado or becomes more of a hard-hitting strong safety. He was named the L.A. Daily News Defensive Player of the Year and on defense he had 62 tackles with four interceptions and three forced fumbles while often limiting the top player from the other team. Farmer also was extremely versatile with 34 catches as a receiver plus nearly 500 yards as a wildcat quarterback. He scored 18 touchdowns in all.

I think he has found his home as an outside LB, especially now that we have a very deep secondary about to get even deeper. I wouldn't mind seeing him on a fly sweep similarly to how we used Tommy Stevens as a surprise element in the future a few times.

The kid is definitely a playmaker. Thrown into the fire, but learning quickly. With his speed, he can be a force, with a little more experience. It was tough for awhile with all the linebacker injuries, but having to play the young guys, has made us stronger
at the position moving forward.

He's a weapon as a situational blitzer. Can he learn the LB position well enough to get a starting job next year?

He seems like a very smart player. He really does a good job keeping his contain, forcing players to turn up field right into the teeth of our defense for a short gain. His unselfish plays like that are pretty much "assists" on tackles that don't show up on the stat sheet.

Has the same type of explosive closing speed as Von Bell did last year at OSU. His ceiling suddenly became very high. Like many players on this team, I couldn't be happier for him. True Penn Stater!

Anybody notice the shark fin thing he did after the sack ?

I think he probably stays at LB. Steve Jones was saying he was struggling a bit to keep his weight where it was before the season.
