How many games did our offense win vs games won by our defense? *

Wow, that's a tough one to answer Chi with Wisconsin game being a classic example.... PSU doesn't win if the Defense doesn't hold Wisconsin to 3 points in the final 35:15 of the game.....but then again, they also don't win if the offense doesn't put up 31 points during the final 35 minutes and change of the game.

I would add that in the Wisconsin game....

1. Snap over McSorely's returned for TD was not on the D

2. Going for it on 4th down Twice and Failing also really put the D in a bad position.

3. If I remember there was also another fumble that led to Wisky getting a short field.

Also, throughout the year the O put the D in bad spots by not scoring in the first half but the D was good enough to keep it within reach and they stepped up every single time when they had to.

Kind of a philosophical question isn't it? The D couldn't stop Wisconsin's run game all day, but they got a stop when Badgers were threatening to go up 35-7. That stop > missed field goal > TD pass to Blacknall so PSU was within 2 scores at halftime. Then the D somehow managed to hold Wisky to 3 points the entire second half -- I have no idea how they managed that.

So regardless of the score and the D's struggles, the D won that game every bit as much as the O.
