Targeting completely flipped the IU Cincy game when IU LB was kicked out. Thought by the way the rule was written the AU LB did target.....but if it is called on that play, he can be called 5-10 times a game.

Totally agree. In fact, I would argue it needs immediate modification. Unless you're spearing someone with the helmet, the defender should not be ejected until the second personal foul. We should not be seeing a targeting call in every stinking game.

Should be like basketball, have a flagrant 1 and flagrant 2. Flagrant 1 is a penalty but no ejection. If no penalty is called, no targeting.
