Well since you asked LOL....a very recent thread discussing Pitt's consensus
All American, Henderson (kick returner and wide receiver). The AA status is as a
kick returner. Long story short, a few posters stated that because of his consensus status, he is therfeore better than Barkley.
I and others took the poster to task saying that consensus or not, there's no way
he's better than Barkley. I actually had a few posts in that thread explaining that Henderson may be quicker, but that Barkley is fast (maybe not as quick), stronger,
and is an every down back, Also that he's probably the best back in America, and will
be in the Heisman running whereas Henderson will not.
So, there you are....you asked "where and when." That my friend is factual, not unguided opinion.
Look I have no problem with football related back and forth between fans that is fun but when SOME people on your board go right to the Pedo attacks that's when some people really show how stupid they are - that is why many people here really look down on Pitt as if those clowns are a true representation of your overall fan base which of course they can't be since we haven't built nearly enough mental institutions to house them all if they were.
Your response shows that instead of staying with the thread, you can only view issues from the PSU angle.. I pointed out some inaccurate and negative responses right here in this thread. You choose to ignore those and immediately go into attack mode about the Pedo remarks.
Let's look at your explanation from a different viewpoint. How about...why so many people over there look down on SOME PSU fans who come across as cultists. Those PSU fans that fit this description are really not a true representation of YOUR fan base
even though many come across that way to a far larger group than what's on the lair.

I love the cultist name calling. What exactly makes one a cultist? Someone who supports their school? Someone who likes Joe Paterno? I've lived in WV and KY as well as PA and I can promise you, WVU fans and U.K. fans are waaayyy more cult like than PSU fans. When 90% of your state is a fan of one school and raise their kids to be fans of that school, almost any that go to college end up going to that school, and treat the stars of the team like royalty throughout the state, that's a cult. I've never seen nearly as many PSU shirts and hats as I have WVU and U.K. in terms of a percentage of population.
Nobody fits that description...it's a term some hater coined to explain people who support Penn State. How many Bama fans would support Bama in their biggest hour of need? How many Bama fans still wear Bear Bryant hats? Are they called cultists? No, they're just called die hard fans. But Penn State fans are cultists. It's a joke term that applies to no one. There are a$$holes in our fan base (just like all fan bases) but no cultists.

personally I think he is out in left field to be honest. He is the only Pitt person I have on ignore. So to answer your question NO!!. Both schools have lots of accomplishments to be proud of and I personally do not take small samplings of message board fodder as a representation of a teams true fan base. I feel its perfectly fine to rout for your team on a board but be open and objective. Football talk is fun and yes fans think their players are better than rivals players. I did get a kick out of the Henderson/Barkley thread both GREAT players but in different aspects of the game. Don't take what your read as Pitt's fan base. I personally have lots of PSU friends, I do a ton of work in the area and enjoy St.College. Looking forward to possibly tossing a few back with folks in September

I can only speak to my own experience with your board. A couple of years ago, one of "yours" came over here with some disparaging remarks about the Penn State QB (Hack at the time) and team in general. Discussion went to how he was permitted to post his crap here but we could not do the same. So I performed the experiment: I copied his exact post, changed Hack's name to that of your QB (I had to look it up), changed Penn State to Pittsburgh, Lions to Panthers and posted it over there. I was banned in 34 minutes and have been ever since. That is how I judge your ilk.

Funny you say that. I was banned and broke no board rules. I then had inform them I was a premium member to get reinstated. As a Mod, I try not to ban outside members. That said, they're welcome for polite banter as long as they don't cross the line. Unfortunately, people come here with hateful posts under numerous names. I also don't like when posters here go over the line. I would think after a while they would get tired of it, but they appear to thrive on it.

For years, I'm talking years after we played them in 2000 and no longer were in the same conference or even scheduled to play Pitt, at the end of a song, they would chant, "Penn State sucks." That's how much we were in their heads.
I wonder what opposing fans thought when they played Pitt and heard that about a non-conference opponent Pitt no longer played yet was in their heads.

I guess my issue with the lair is the non-stop use of the word pedo with any thread involving Penn State. The stance of caring about victims and making non stop child sexual abuse jokes is disgusting. Being called a cultist, a pedo or child sexual abuse enabler is different than being called fat or a tool.. it's as offensive as a racial slur in my opinion. Being associated with Penn State and being called one of the most vile things a person could be called because of it? The choice is to ignore it or confront it. I have good friends that went to Pitt or are Pitt fans. We've been talking trash for years and that's not part of it and we really don't have a "line" drawn for what's appropriate or not appropriate in anything we say. Sports hate is one thing. Personal hatred is just not acceptable. I am shocked it's allowed on a public forum. Rutgers is on the same level with their forum.

The stuff here is milk toast compared to what goes on over there and if you don't see it then that's your issue - The level of hatred you guys seem to have for PSU is nuts so if you think what you have seen here in any way compares have a coke and a smile and give yourself another National Championship.
PSU & Pitt have played twice since 1999- don't make it sound like PSU has lost to Pitt 17 years in a row. The last 2 games were in Pittsburgh and on one of those years, PSU finished 5-7 so it is not as if Pitt beat some great PSU team that season.
They don't bring up that Penn State won the previous seven meetings against Pitt before they won over a bad Penn State team in 2000. So they've won 2 of the last 9 games against Penn State.
And went on to do absolutely nothing in the worst P5 division. Pitt also won in 1976, also equally irrelevant to the 2017 season.
Last year was a complete fluke thanks to the unjust sanctions and the only other time they played since 1999 was against one of the worst PSU teams of all times. They've benefitted from circumstance. No fan in the world would trade places with Pitt for those two insignificant OOC wins.
My opinion is that anyone who can post on the Lair, and is not banned, is a PSU supporter in disguise. And a poor one, at that.
