would the PSU defense have stopped Kentucky from scoring.
IMO, if they pLayed no better than they did, I would think 50/50, even though their passing game was marginal IMO.

I was surprised again when Jimmy kicked the Field goal. Should have went for it. None the less you make a good point.

My $0.02: having your mind set on running a fake punt on the first series and not considering field position is never smart. Going for it on 4th down in the 4th with 4+ minutes left makes more sense; if you don’t make it you have them deep in thier own territory, you have all your time outs and the defense was playing at a high level.
Onward through the fog!!

ABSOLUTELY!!!! Big difference stopping a team from getting a first down compared to stopping them from marching down the field. Dope call kicking the field goal!

Who knows but having a guy try a field goal that is 0-2 versus a hot offense made no sense to me. Have to go on 4th down. Rewards versus risk is just too obvious.

If you don't get the 1st down or the TD on that 4th down call, if the D played the same way they played after the FG it is all academic.

Well other then for anyone who was doing squares for the game that is, as PSU would have had 3 fewer points and chances are still lost.

The key was them getting 2 1st downs after the change of possession, not the FG

Wasn’t a clearly wrong decision either way. Had 3 TOs and our D wasn’t giving up much.

depends on how much time was left, forcing their QB to throw.

Yep, and CJF's resume on clock management has been a weakness of his. IF PSU had gotten the first down they should have continued to mix up the run and pass in going for the TD to drain the clock. But at the end of the first half it was a similar situation with PSU having the ability to totally drain the clock but instead left UK over 50 seconds for some unknown reason...

But I am optimistic that if PSU had gone for it, scored a TD, and drained some of the clock and maybe forced UK to use a timeout or two, that PSU would have had a better chance to hold UK. My reasoning is that UK was most effective just running the ball. But on a number of possessions mixed up their play calling to include QB options and other plays behind the LOS that PSU was all over. For the most part their QB is terrible and if he was forced to contribute in a big way for the drive to succeed PSU would have stopped them. Just my opinion....

Cats would have kicked a FG to win, they would have gotten that far down the field.

Good point but they would have had to pass and I like our odds against their passing game.

For me, I would have liked to see Trace get that chance to make a clutch play. Playing to tie with a FG is no sure thing given our special teams. Even if Trace misses, you still get that chance if you stop them.

We could not stop them when we absolutely knew what play was coming. Hard to believe we would have sopped them when they had options other than run up the gut. The "injuries" to their two secondary guys on our last drive gave them the dead time 10 minutes to regain their focus and remember how badly they wanted to win the game.

From a Ky Fan.......Pen state would probably have won. Unfortunately.

Also gave us too much time to think about things. Franklin and especially TM are much better shooting from the hip.
