Brand just took a beating and WArner won but should have been stalled out. Hmm. They will handle fOSU but a match worth warching.

It’s interesting to see. Brands is probably not the hammer people made him out to be after the Venz match. But he’s not terrible.

Warner gassed out pretty hard. It’s possible they’re in the middle of a particularly hard training cycle. Who knows.

Hope Ohio state can at least give a respectable showing.

Yeah I'm not seeing much concern for Iowa. Warner gassed but he was dominating and still won comfortably. Lots of elite wrestlers randomly gas a couple times a year (Zahid comes to mind), he doesn't have a history of that and I don't think it's a long term concern.

Their horses are still so good, they are going to be fine. When Jacob Warner is the what 7th best guy on your team you are doing pretty darn well. And heck Nelson Brands being your worst starter is also an impressive thing.

Lyon and Penola are two really solid wrestlers. Warner actually looked great until he gassed and the Brands match-up was already the one we felt most confident with. The rest of the line-up looked dominant, excluding the 3x weights with starters out. It's going to be a great dual next Friday.

I thought Penola had more to do with Warner gassing than Warner did. If Penola had wrestled as hot in the first period as he did in the second and third, Warner would have lost, imho

Just turned on the OSU match... did they say why Heinsleman was missing?

Looks like TaTo is already conceding...no Heinselman or Decatur, although Hienselman looked like he was ready to go.

Malik was standing there with his singlet on, sure seemed like he thought he was wrestling.

They are the best team out there but I think the goofers 10 AA is safe for another season.

17-0 Iowa with Sasso with pin. Now, 17-6.
All I see is a very, very strong team

That situation has been rehashed numerous times on this board. But, yeah, every time one sees Sasso one is reminded how nicely he would fit in the PSU lineup.
Just having fun. Can we rehash it again? Wrestling in the OSU room he has become pretty good, just think if he had found his way to Lorenzo.

Looking at Iowa’s body of work so far this season they are scary good, with bonus point machines at several weights. With the monkey wrench of an abbreviated season, other COVID impacts, injuries, and a very young team impacting Cael’s system for having PSU peaking at nationals, I suspect even his astounding coaching prowess may not be enough to mount a serious challenge to Iowa this season. Gotta admire elite wrestling, regardless of the wrestler’s team.

Yeah, I get it. There may be a good reason why PSU didn't recruit Sasso, but man he would he would pencil in nicely at 149. I will now say nothing further on the matter.

Agree. Kind of reminds one of another B10 team from the last 10 years.

Is Shane Sparks calling Cassioppi an All-American? Because he's not, although he likely would have been last season.

Iowa looks very very good top to bottom. I think we can beat them, but we need a half dozen things to lean our way.

1) We wrestle our best, no Mark Hall off nights vs Kem type performances
2) We are 100% healthy for the first time in 2 years, and that includes Kerk. As for Howard I am willing to pass on this one, Lee is probably going to Pin/Tech his way to a NC. If Howard could keep it to a major, that would be a major accomplishment, but in reality asking way to much. I say walk him out and take a MFF. Watching Cassi, I think Seth gets bonused despite his great showing against lower competition so far.
3) Hold all loses other than 125 to decisions
4) We could use one or two bonus wins in there to counter their bonus match at 125 (AB for one?)
5) 3-4 of the 5: RBY, Nick, Berge, Starroci and Beard need to deliver in what will be a high number of pivotal matches. I have no worries about Aaron and Kerk, feel very good about Nick, and no clue about Verk and Joe (needs more development on bottom) but they could hold their own and keep it close if on their game.

I can almost guarantee a couple of the high flying Hawks (Warner?) are brought back down to earth with this dual. They missed out on Michigan as well so a few haven't really been tested.

Win or lose we will come away with a clear picture of how we benchmark against them, and where we need more work over the next month.

We never peak in February so it's all good. I am just fine with a respectable L in the dual, a 2-4 finish at Bigs, and a 9th NC in 11 years!
