Guys, remember that we live in Snowflake World today. Everyone gets a trophy after the game and then milk and cookies and a big hug, win or lose. The key is not to hurt anyone's feelings. That way, we're all winners and life is special. We must constantly reinforce these virtues with everyone, lest someone has a sad.
Heck the tOSU "fans" here were complaining in the paper that Obie left Robinson in too long (to score our second TD--in a 63-14 loss) and that we "should played the third string". Except, of course, we didn't have a third string. In Obie’s year at Columbus we were getting throttled with a depleted roster. I recall them being up 40-50 points. We went for it on 4th down and the ref gave us the spot. Meyer challenged the spot and won. Never read one negative writer comment. Their beef is with PSU not Franklin. Bastards.
I looked at the writer and went no further. I could write his articles about Penn State very succinctly. " I hate Penn State, Penn State sucks! The should have never been in the Big10. The end!"
Recycle every week.
NCAA has no say in defining FBS and the playoff!!! They exist only because for basketball (and they've completely f*cked that up with recent events); the football conferences will tell Emmert and successors to pound salt and GTFO!!!!
Now what fun would that be?
All those programs you list are better than Pitt. Plus it would be doing pitt fans a huge favor.
Only recently are they better than Pitt. Duke would put together a decent season once or twice per decade, same with WF, same with TCU. Pitt also plays in a stadium that is larger than the others as well. I dislike Pitt just as much as the next guy, but I don't see how you can't have them in a P5 conference.
It's a good thing I'm not the coach. When Fitz kicked the on-sides kickoff with 1:45 to go down 24...I was pissed. I stood up and yelled that's a BS move and then tried to will Franklin to put the first team back in and score. Northwestern had no chance of winning at the point...none, zero, zip. The only thing that them getting the ball back and scoring would have accomplished is making Penn State look worse. At that point in the game, improving your loss from 4 scores down to 3 scores down is not much of an improvement.
You make valid arguments, but there are more sports than just football. IMO, Pitt has the worst P5 athletic department... they've never won a NCAA national title in any sport. So it's an easy choice.
The P5 are only concerned with football, the other sports never come into the discussion unless an institution is adding or removing a sport.
We'll have to agree to disagree. If it came down to two mediocre football teams, but one had a blue blood basketball program... I think other sports would matter. If you're running the ACC and you could only keep Pitt or Duke who would you keep and why?
The ACC was much better known for basketball than football for a number of years. If the realignment is going to impact all sports, there are a number of programs that are going to be thrown around for consideration for elimination - WVU, Rutgers, Pitt, Duke, WF, Louisville, TCU, etc. Of them all I can see Pitt being the odd man out as I think the conferences would try to protect their longer standing members. It will be interesting.
I thought it was a great, subtle jam at the B1G when Dantonio exclaimed in his post-game press conference “every time we got a turnover, we were immediately flagged”Don't allow yourself to be in a position to get jobbed by the refs. That's Big Ten 101, right? I mean we've been hearing this for 25 years.

Where have I seen that script before? Oh wait, it was O’Neill’s crew.
I think we see Dear John the Saturday after next.
Oh, we'll see him again, count on it.
