According to Flo Storr has been granted an immediate release from ISU. Very surprised especially at the timing. Kid is super tough and will have 3 years of elegibility after this season. Where do you think he ends up? He’s from Michigan so I wonder if he ends of back home at U of M.

Rutgres? Or do they always wait until after NCAA's to recruit other teams?

Bad deal. Won't buy in and would rather go elsewhere- one of the very few hold overs we really needed to keep. I think he will end up at central michigan.

Do you know what happened? Was he just not on the same page as Dresser? I thought he was a kid that ISU could build around but obviously not if he didn’t want to be there.

So did I. I never caught any wind of this being possible. There was no scuttle about it at the social Sunday following the WV dual. I guess the guy that text me about it said it has been heading this way for several weeks, but it is all news to me. He seemed like a really good young man when I spoke to him this Fall. Bummer.

Between his freestyle aspirations along with being from Michigan I’d think the wolverines are in play there. He also had a brother that wrestled for them.

Brother was a RS SO last year, not on the roster, did he quit the team or transfer?

Michigan does make sense. He'd be an upgrade over Profaci, or one of them could go 149 with Amine graduating.

OTOH they have Joey Silva (132) coming in -- McFarland seems to like starting true FR, and Silva's not beating out Micic. And Will Lewan (152) might be Amine's replacement at 149.

He wasn’t starting so I’m just guessing he left the team, i don’t see any reason for Silva to get pulled next year in the case of Mattin at 125 Assad wasn’t getting the job done and Mattin was clearly better. They’ve already got options moving forward but it just seems like it would make sense to me that he’d at least look at them.

Agreed on Storr. McFarland's proclivity for starting true freshmen didn't start with Mattin. He seems to be one of those coaches who believes in saving shirts for later.

Yes it’s definitely documented that’s his go to but he usually pulls those shirts when it’s necessary. If he’s got Micic at 133 and Storr at 141 I don’t see it happening. Now if Storr isn’t in the picture and Silva is big enough that’s a different story

I read Dresser's statement several times. Absolutely none of the "typical/necessary/expected" comments about a transfer. You know....."I want to thank_______ for their hard work and contributions to ______wrestling" " We all appreciate what he has done here and wish _______ the best and wish ______ great success wherever he goes" Not even a hint of gratitude or graciousness. It would be quite interesting to know the full story .......of that I am certain.

Minnesota is building something pretty special. Thorn graduates in a year I believe.....I wouldn't be one bit surprised if he ends up closer to home....at a program on the way back. Of course Michigan also is reloading and it is home. Those are my two guesses

It is odd that Storr did not finish the season, year of eligibility gone either way. My guess is that Storr was not buying into Dresser's program in a huge way.

This is not a good look for out new coaching staff, but I believe brighter days are ahead. Sunday was the first time I have watched ISU wrestle where shape seemed to favor the Clones. I see improvement in guys almost across the board. This program was/is in shambles and is not an easy fix. KD has earned enough trust through past results for me to quietly observe at least the next 3 years without declaring victory or defeat in this hire. I really think the best possible guy for the job was hired and if he can't get us back to at least a top 20 program it simply can't happen.

Won't listen to Zadick when it comes to managing weight, hand fighting, motion..... I think he is a poor style fit for the coaches and they for him. Both parties may benefit from this in the long run. ISU does not have a replacement, but not exactly in the running team wise anyway.

If you are correct, not unusual. New coaching staff and athletes recruited by the previous staff not seeing eye to eye, I'm shocked. Cael and Bubba Jenkins didn't hit it off either.

If I am Storr, I really try to stick it out for the next 7 weeks to get through nationals...but maybe he didn't have that choice.

Wow, interesting. Thanks.

Is it true that transfer rules would prohibit him from wrestling *this* season and postseason for another D1 team?

Is this a case of tampering?

From the CycloneFanatic board: "Heard last night that Storr was in contact with the Paulson’s all season and they were recruiting him to Virginia all season. He will be transferring to Virginia. Pretty disappointing in former cyclones, and I wonder what ramifications will be taken."

If true, the Paulsons might be getting recruiting tips from coach Goodale.

So Virginia got a hold of the Rutgers' 3-inch binder.

From the article: “I kind of feel bad for Kanen. I’ve always been one, I lay it on the line and tell it how it is, sometimes I get in trouble for that…He was being tampered with…by some former coaches, I don’t think he got a chance to give my guys a chance. That’s the untold story there.” He went on to say, he wasn’t interested in holding anyone against their will and indicated, “There are no hard feelings between the Storr family and Iowa State…He had a lot of things going through his head.”
