Kotelnicki needs to answer for that last series near the goal line

The safety could jump the route all day. We still have a 6-6 TE that can get up in the air, rather than throw into "triple coverage" again. Makes a lot of sense. Warren is a game changer, use him when the game is on the line. A safety jumping the route doesn't mean shit when you throw the ball high enough for only him to catch it which he has done "many, many time"
So he was completely covered and you want Drew to force the ball there instead of going through his reads as designed. Brilliant.
That wasn't a jump ball. If you wanted to run a jump ball/fade to him then call that but Drew read that play correctly.

He's 6-6 tall nit wit. Downs jumping the route is meaningless. You would rather throw into triple coverage. How did that work out!!!!
He can't know the coverage on second guy until he comes off the first. Do you know anything about football?
Everything Drew did there is exactly how he was supposed to. Ohio State played it perfectly. I love the fact you think that's a jump ball play smh

No matter how good your tight end is, you cannot win big games without wide receivers.

Haggans needs to go. Right now. They had one job: Get a play making receiver in the portal.

They got a guy who can't get open and drops the ball when he does.

On that 4th down where people want it thrown to Warren the bigger question is why the EFF run that to the short side??? If you’re gonna do it run it to the other side of the field and give Warren space. I don’t get our love for running plays slanted to the short side. They did it with Beau a couple times and it’s so frustrating.

If you have athletes put them in space. That’s what I was told AK’s specialty was.

He saw every bit of that. The safety jumped the route and he correctly went to the next read. You all keep saying he doesn't read things correctly then use examples of plays in which he proves you wrong.
like the intersection in the end zone Our receiver was covered and the pass should nat have thrown! result was an interseption. another, l say another missed scoring chance!!!!!

That looked like a CJF game plan. Why this team insists on running up the middle when it constantly fails is head stretching stuff. It angers me that this staff cannot come up with a credible offensive game plan against teams with equal or greater talent. Different year, same results.
I have no issue with running up the middle in that scenario. But at least call an alignment that doesn’t allow the defense to stack the line. Only do that if you plan to run a QB sneak or tush push. Otherwise spread the field out a bit so you have more choices. The RB only has one guy to run through for one yard, then. Only one LB is going to be able to get to the hole.

"Jumped the route" He was only running 2-3 yards and has 6 inches on Downs. There was a packed house in the end zone. Maybe the QB should have thrown to the tallest receiver and best player on the team who could out jump anyone on the field.

Make that throw to Warren with Downs on his back and he makes the catch 9 out of 10 times! Common sense son rather than throw the ball into triple coverage.

Keep watching the game and shouting you mouth off on this board, maybe you learn something about football.

Better yet, maybe they should have had Warren in the shotgun one time to go up and over that Buckeye DL, rather than running the ball up the middle against the best DL in college football. Remember at the Shoe a few years back. 1st and goal from the 7 YL. Three RPO's later it was 4th and goal from the 7 YL. JF was happy to kick a field goal to go up by 3. Barrett took them right down the field for a TD, and another loss.

The play calling by this team sucks!

No QB is going to force a ball to a covered receiver on a first read--that's a QB that shouldn't play.
How do you think he knows the coverage on the next guy before he goes to him
You don't know anything about the game
Yes, the should have ran the ball with Warren 4 times--after his long run--yes, that's a smart thing to say--trying to blame Allar for not forcing a ball to a covered receiver because the next guy was also covered is one of the least football savvy things I've read on this board which is frightening--if you want to complain they didn't call a fade of 4th & goal--do that. This argument is horrible.

Maybe we should not have run the ball 3 times in a row.

I think they will wait to the end of the year but he needs to go.

Stop. You just arguing to argue now. That’s a pick 6 if he throws that to Warren and game is totally over without giving the defense a chance to get the ball back.

Agreed. Another ghastly offensive performance in a so-called big game. If he was so intent on running the ball from the three why no use Beau so the defense has to defend the entire field. Horrendous coaching but I'm not surprised.
I think Franklin just stubbornly said we will show them we can be physical and let's pound it in. Incredibly he does it 3 straight times. Then we are stuck on 4th down because as ridiculous as it sounds from the one we have to try to pass because we obviously could not run. Just a horrible series after having so much momentum with the Warren big catch and run.

The frustrating thing is we were all told when AK was hired that he’s great at getting his athletes in space and he’s innovative. I admit I didn’t watch much of Kansas but I thought that meant he got his playmakers open by scheming them open. It seems like after 10 games he’s more about gimmicky formations and trick plays. Our WR’s are consistently covered (not sure if that’s because of their talent level but that’s another story). When it comes time to hitch your wagon to something when you need 3 yards there’s nothing there. OSU seemed to scheme their playmakers open quite a few times. Perfect example was that weird reverse to Allar. Who the hell thinks Allar is doing anything other that throwing?? And even now the gimmick plays have been seen and aren’t as affective. Just seems like if we aren’t running the Annexation of Puerto Rico we are just running it right up the middle for a yard.

I think the talent level of the WRs is just dismal.

I’m watching other games today and nobody is covered as much as out WRs. They suck

Sadly, it went from an embarrassment of riches some 10 years ago to this. When Washington left early, it was like the cupboard was bare. LB is a sore spot as well.

Exactly. I’d have had him take multiple snaps if necessary….especially from the 1. —Also, following a 350 lb motioning guard is also not a bad idea, rather than up the gut x3 .. —-I had flashbacks of Mike Guman running 4 times to the same spot into the Alabama line 😬
Can we please clear up this misconception? There were just TWO running plays up the gut on that goal line series.
gp5PHOM.jpg
1st down and goal at the 8-yard line - Pitch to Guman runs left gets two yards.
2nd down and goal at the six-yard line - Pass from Fusina to Fitzkee to the one yard line.
3rd down and goal at the one-yard line - Suhey for half a yard (I still think the ball reached the goal line SEE photo above)
4th down and goal at the one-yard line- Guman stopped by Barry Krauss.

Here's the video of that goal line stand and plays:

Well said. The defenses have seen our windows dressing stuff and aren't fooled anymore. This was a total failure for Andy and Franklin today. They didn't help their players one bit. The play calling inside the red zone has been awful all year and today was the climax.
And can you imagine how bad we are at receiver. We're going on several years now where our receivers are a joke. And as the gimmicks have run their course our offensive line is the same blah unit they've been for years.
And a patch work offensive line, albeit a talented one, once again controlled our defensive line in all aspects.
I've been a Penn State fan for a long time. During Joe's prime we could and did beat everybody. And even during Joe's past prime years I always thought we had a chance. With Franklin I expect Ls in big games.
