Kotelnicki needs to answer for that last series near the goal line

Man, did he call a vanilla game after what he's done this season. That last series, Jay ****ing Paterno could have called those plays.
He has been a total failure! The offense has not improved under his coaching. Pathetic!

Exactly. I’d have had him take multiple snaps if necessary….especially from the 1. —Also, following a 350 lb motioning guard is also not a bad idea, rather than up the gut x3 .. —-I had flashbacks of Mike Guman running 4 times to the same spot into the Alabama line 😬
That did not happen in that Sugar Bowl against Bama

Sometimes as a coach and player, you want to try to show the other team mano y mano that you are stronger than them. So you say we are gonna shove it down their throats right here right now. So you run the ball 3 times up the middle. If you win that battle, you score AND make a statement.
We did not score, and our “statement” resulted in our guys showing that they were stronger. Period.

Good Morning, A lot of good thought in the prior posts. A denominator that has not been mentioned, is the lack of any push by our Offensive line in critical plays when needed yesterday and this season. This happened again yesterday during critical times when we couldnt get a few yards. We were given a gift on our first series when it was third and one. There was no push, but the refs gave it to us.

The skies not falling! Yes, many self induced penalties and failures. OSU took advantage of our aggressive defense and reversed course. Many pick plays by OSU where we picked ourselves. Adjustments definitely need to be made. Now the coaches have to earn their paycheck. If they don't send em.packing. One score away. Lots of venom in the air after the game and deservedly so. I always tried to give it time before reacting emotionally to this. I would always embarrass myself or want to jump off a bridge. We Are!

And why have #71 the 330 pounder motion but then have him try to block off the edge when Allen is going right up the gut? You either have 74 go up the RG's butt or have Allen follow him as the lead blocker.

Exactly. We needed him on the line. You would figure we would run behind him if we are intent on going up the middle. And what's worse is he didn't block anybody coming in motion.

Anyone who blames AK is a fool. I think it’s clear as day with a common denominator is and it’s Franklin.

Think that really is the only explanation for that series of calls. I thought they were going to actually run on 4th down from that formation because everyone in the stadium knew the ball was going to Warren, but nope they did what everyone knew they were going to try. The safety was moving to cover Warren even before the snap!

Agree, this in on Franklin.

He may have told AK what plays he wanted at the goal line.

He may have let AK call the plays and agreed with them.

Either way, Franklin has the ultimate authority. He hired AK, either directed or allowed the plays. If he wanted to get the ball to Warren, tell your damm OC what play you want.

If Franklin just stood there and had no comment or contribution to the play calling, that may be even worse. He’s just a cheerleader in the sidelines then.

First question in the PC for a reporter should be “James, after that Warren play got you down the the 3, who called the goal line series where you weren’t able to get in the end zone?” I would love to hear that answer.
And why would he answer such an idiotic question?

Its getting very difficult to continue defending Franklin for the recruiting and caliber of athletes he brings in but at sometime soon he's got to be more accountable than just taking the blame for yesterday.

I dont understand how that last series happened with no creativity or at a minimum spreading the defense out.

And I especially didnt undertand the lineman in motion and him running to the outside. The best thing Franklin could have done was call a TO and discuss it without rushing the plays given the importance.

More complaints:

Jaylen Reed - multiple unsportsmanlike penalties - where is Franklin to keep that in check

Injuries - enough with the nonsensical secret agent bullshit.

Why do we have walk ons still cracking the two deep? Quit recruiting 15 tweeners every year and always lacking prototypical linebackers and defense tackles.

Get rid of Hagans - the WR room has been a cesspool for 3 years now.

Special teams is a joke looks like pop warner. Punter is bad and our return game is comical.

Still underwhelmed with the line play on both sides. We got pushed around yesterday. Why is Amin Vanover crashing in every play?!? It was free 15 yards to his side. Again- this is pop warner stuff.

Rant over….

Breakdown w/ Video of the 4-play sequence. Biggest takeaway, author doubts Allar had a pull read on any of the 3 runs. Straight handoffs.

I love running up the middle 3 times there. What I don't understand is doing it out of shotgun, with a running back getting the ball while standing still, and no lead blocker.

Ok so unless Franklin is straight out lying, then Kotelnicki does need to state his thinking on the playcalls this series. This ain't Kansas, Toto. We need some explanation.

Considering our RBs had 38 yards rushing on 15 attempts prior, I'm not so certain.

Although the Diamond formation with Vega and Warren as lead blockers would have been my go to, the Pistol with 6 OL and 3 TEs was fine other than we couldn't push them.

At the end of the day, I thought we would have tried to outscheme them there instead of brute force it. For as much as we did wrong, we really let them off the hook with the 1/3 of the field used play calling.

I agree Warren and Beau should’ve been in there.
Agreed, I have no problem with 3 calls up the middle. Just put 9 in there so they have to at least account for him to the outside.

It really was an all time choke job from the coaching staff.

So far that 3-play sequence and failure to score is THE STORY of the season.

Let's hope for better memories than that by the time the last game is played.

should Frankland override AK at the time? if so, why didn't he? how many punts have we returned this year? and why are we not able to establish a effective ground game? traut is very overrated in my opinion.
