Kotelnicki needs to answer for that last series near the goal line

Ok so unless Franklin is straight out lying, then Kotelnicki does need to state his thinking on the playcalls this series. This ain't Kansas, Toto. We need some explanation.
Just because Franklin says there is no discussion - it doesn’t mean that there wasn’t a philosophy communicated to AK during the week if it came up,

Yurcich would have run the T Formation and gotten a TD. That was the best thing he did during his time at PSU.

There's several things we could have tried. Get the QB rolling out and hit a back or WR in the flat. Warren in the wildcat.

So far that 3-play sequence and failure to score is THE STORY of the season.

Let's hope for better memories than that by the time the last game is played.
definite failure....however, with 9 in the game they have to respect the outside run.

Let Warren at least try one leap over the line! Come on, man. Your best player gets you to a place to tie it up and he goes 0-4. Thats malpractice! Simply put whether it was coach K or Franklin. It’s unconscionable. Go down with your best. They didn’t.

Or at least use him as a decoy.

You cannot put your best offensive lineman in motion, because that means your BACK
UP guard is on the field. In all three plays, Nelson was manhandled at the line of scrimmage, as was Dawkins. We played like little boys up front and they played like men. Bottom line.

Like we punched it in vs Illinois in '23, right?

Personally, I wouldn't have objected to the T, but without the '22 TE group blocking it wasn't as strong for us in '23.

My personal favorite thing to do would have been shift to the 5 wide look out of it. We got Warren to the wide side in a 1v1 in '22 with the other 4 on the other side in the Diamond look. If they give you the 1v1, quick slant to Warren and let him make the play. If you have numbers, throw to Singleton and quick screen to him with a blocking advantage.

Even 44 at QB would have given them pause.
100%, warren at qb, pribula out wide and put him in motion, fake or give it to him, let him run or throw.

The problem everyone has is AK was supposed to be this creative genius and in his time to show the world he ran the ball up the middle 3 of 4 times.

Not only did he run up the middle three times but he removed his best offensive lineman from the play on all three downs.

What about a jump pass from Warren out of the gun like Tebow did in his day? Put Dinkins in tight to block then he slips out. Warren takes the snap and takes about a yard or so plowing forward then pulls up and passes to Dinkins.

His choice?? If so, Out of character from what I watched at Kansas last year.

Or have Allar keep on one of those handoffs, and he walks into the EZ. I was completely dumbfounded after that series of calls.

I would say the 4-play sequence, because once Lions came out in passing formation everyone knew Warren would be the main target.

On Game Day--they said "An NFL scout say the problem with the Penn State offense is that it's too "gimmicky""
I like using Warren in a variety of ways but other than that they're right. The first 3 plays, iirc, all had the OL in motion. It's too much. Sometimes you have to keep it simple

I saw a shot from above and behind of I think the 3rd down run. Dawkins #53 gets pushed back like 3 yards and his man's penetration slows Allen. Then our 71 does literally nothing. Goes in motion then blocks no one. Allen just plows into the pile, no vision. Just all around horrible execution.
