Last Chance Qualifier - Men's Freestyle Results

If Hall beats Foster and Nate Jackson beats Dean, Hall would face Dean for true second.

Foster, up 1-0, gets a TD at the edge, but it's challenged. Challenge lost, 4-1 Foster.

Dean beats Jackson 7-2, so that ends Hall's chances.

86kg is going to be fun next week.

Mark is in a tough spot ... he is the very definition of a tweener. Kyle Dake also sits at his natural weight in non olympic years.

Not a bad result for Mark. Seeded 3rd, finished 4th in a weight class he's not been in very long. Looking forward to the future.

Honis takes 1st, and there'll be a true second there too between Boykin and Amos.

Hall rag dolled Wood to win 125kg, and there's no need for a true second there.

Zane Richards taking it to Jack Mueller early in their true 2nd match, up 6-0.
8-0, but couldn't turn for the final two.
And there's the go-behind for the tech.

Lugo McKee at 65kg true 2nd should involve points.
Lugo looked to have a takedown but fell apart.
McKee with the TD and gut, gets reversed but up 4-1.
Head pinch x5 makes it 14-1, despite that the fourth head pinch should've done it.
Lugo was on track to win this weight and fell apart.

Foster Jackson now at 86kg true 2nd.
Foster gets to a leg, Jackson turns a corner and gets two extra. Another shot, Jackson sprawls, goes behind, lace x2 and it's 10-0.

Braxton Amos up quickly on Scottie Boykin, 6-0, looking to join McKee as the only other guy to get to the trials via the consi bracket. Boykin looking to go big, but gets planted for the fall. Would've been 10-0 anyway.

So, Braxton Amos qualifies for OTTs in both senior Greco and senior freestyle.
Right ?

Impressive for Wisconsin incoming recruit.

Dan Vallimont is another in a long line of high-character individuals to come through the Penn State program ... and he wasn't a bad wrestler either!

-- 108-35 career record (wrestling from 2007-2010)
-- 34 were bonus point wins
-- 4th, 2nd, 3rd, and 3rd at the Big Ten Wrestling Championships
-- Two-time All-American, finishing 3rd his sophomore year as a #3 seed, and 2nd his senior year as a #6 seed. He beat the #2 seed Jarrod King in the semis 3-1 SV, to earn his spot in the NCAA Championship Finals, where he lost to Andrew Howe.

I am not so sure Barraclough's story has been written yet. Granted with the elite talent we have in the room he 'probably' will be a room guy, albeit a very strong one for his career at Penn State.

Then again he is still very young and skilled and I for one will not underestimate his potential to continue to develop with Cael.

If Berge is facing more medical difficult issues than we think The Claw might just find a home up at 157. He could easily be a .500 wrestler next year and at some point, qualify, and then.... It's up to him. Could someone like him AA 2-3 years from now? I wouldn't count him out. I could see someone like him jumping into the portal as well and landing close to a full ride at a smaller school.

He is a 4x highschool guy and I do not think he is quite yet a known quantity. He would make an interesting interview to better understand his drive and asperations

Love the nickname of The Claw.

Bummed for Marky. Happy for Cenzo. Chance was a beast yesterday. McKee's are wrestleback warriors.

Pumped for more wrestling this weekend.

Amine hasn't dropped down from 197 yet.
AJ has been talking going up to heavyweight. However, he does wrestle at Offweight State U so starting a rumor AJ to 184 is probably all that is necessary for Flo to drop AB a ranking notch or two.
