Match Notes for Rutgers Dual

Did coach speak this week? Any chance of seeing Berge? Happy I don't see the "or" next to Brooks

RBY/Alvarez should be a good one..

The rest should be chalk..

Would love to see Meredith take out Agular.

I see Rutgers with one win maybe 2 unless we roll out backups at some weights

The way Alvarez is wrestling this year makes me super optimistic for Robbie Howard next year. I think Howard was undefeated against him before the state finals last year? I know they're close friends and have trained together forever.

Yeah right..lol..you love Rutgers week!

By the way..what's up with Colluci? Is he out for year? How do you see RBY/Alvarez?

There is literally no mention of the Penn State dual on the Rutgers board.

Colucci is supposedly out until next weekend. Probably because he would take two losses this weekend.

If RBY doesn't beat Alvarez, I'll be very disappointed. Alvarez is hard to watch - generates precious little offense. I believe RBY will be too athletic for him.

I do wish we had a stronger 125, although I don't totally count out Meredith.

The would probably appreciate it if you started the match thread for them:D

How good is Meredith ?? I don’t know anything bout him but he must be decent if u think he can take out Aguilar

I would consider him a "grinder." Doesn't do anything great, but has good gas tank and gives 100% effort

He beat Collioco who is pretty highly ranked. I didn't say he "would" take out Aguilar. I'm saying I "hope" he can to give him another good ranked win. Mixed results with him though..so who knows. Just got beat by Cardini who I thought he'd beat last week

How's JoJo's health? Read he was banged up a little..N. Lee not the guy to wrestle when not at 100% health

For those attending, the Rutgers Dual is a whiteout...

mail

Meredith beat #9 Intermat Michael Colaiocco and then has looked terrible in other matches. So who knows. Brody Teske beat Treaster from Navy who beat Aguilar, so it's not like Aguilar is Spencer Lee.

RBY finally looked healthy to me on Sunday for the first time in over a year. Prior to that, he looked like he was recovering from his knee injuries and not 100%. If he's finally 100%, I don't see Alvarez staying with him.

Good to know. Thought I heard something y about that at rec last week, but no paper tickets mean this word isn’t going to be widespread.
Season ticket holders also should have received an email, though I understand exactly what you're saying. At least the couple dozen here that are attending will be in white :).

Since everyone there is a season ticket holder or got their ticket from a season ticket holder, everyone should be clued in.

I'll stand on my head if that happens. I have seen a lot of the 133s over the past couple years, plus seen Alvarez more than once in HS;). Alvarez is quick and slick. RBY is quicker and slicker.

RBY is a 9-4 decision over him, but given it's Alvarez, it will be 6-2 or 6-3. If RBY loses to Alvarez it is a poor job by RBY.

I'll take that bet. Not because I disagree with you, but because if I somehow win I can say #NoDice and we can all see you standing on your head. :D

I'll offer nothing in return though--because I want RBY to smoke him.
Perhaps I should amend that statement to "I'll attempt to stand on my head.";)

Just to put it out there, IF an upset happens and RBY goes down (no chance!), I won't be on the board until Monday at the earliest. I'm pretty busy on Sunday. In fact, there is a better than fair chance I won't be aware of any results in the PSU-RU match until Monday. So, pile on some #NoDice if it happens.

Appears neither team will be at full strength. Getting up for Rutgers should be easy for the Penn State guys...should see more energy than last weekend, hopefully.

Really wish Jojo would have RS.. really thought he would be one of those blue chip recruits that can contend for AA right away.. isn’t looking like it rn... yeah he’s not 100% healthy but he’s healthy enough to be out there n wrestling...

RBY is def a fav but if somehow Alvarez wins I know u will give him no credit bc he is a RU wrestler.. which ur logic is entertaining and I can’t tell if ur serious sometimes lol

It's a plaid crowd. Not like a typical football or basketball crowd. Similar attempts at white-outs didn't go over that well, IMO. But, I'll certainly wear white.

I hope Rutgers never wakes up and makes Donny the head coach, Rutgers could be dangerous but they’re still Rutgers which I love

He's won a bunch of close matches against a less than stellar group of opponents (except for Phillippi, who wrestled like dog-do at the Scuffle) and lost to guys who are also not impressive. In other words, he hasn't been tested. But you tend to ignore all the losses to subpar wrestlers and blow the wins against the same into something more than they are.

I mean I could be wrong, but there isn't much on his resume to convince an objective person that he will be able to handle top guys at this point.

He struggled early in season but trending up lately

Hearing that berge is out for the year
Darn near impossible to believe otherwise. If he isn't clear to compete, that means he isn't drilling or wrestling at practice. At best he is lifting and conditioning.
Since he obviously had a reoccurrence of post concussion symptoms after the dual he did compete in, the move forward is going to be 10 times more cautious than "normal cautious".
