Michael Beard to the transfer portal

Come on down to Morgantown. Lets gooo

lol now being serious you would think he could almost damn near pick his school. Honestly on his feet I think he’s one of the top 3 197lbers. Some big10 team should pay this kid to come in. Or ASU could use him. Couple good acc teams could also use him. Also I don’t think standford has a stud 197 guy either.
like I said imo he’ll have his pick of almost anyone.

Ok, so are we factoring in traffic here? Malvern is a prep school, that’s not where he is from. He is from Pottstown, so if he is leaning one way or the other because of 7 minutes, we have other issues. Penn/Ivy have very difficult transfer rules per previous messages and make things difficult. But if he wants a degree from Wharton, he may give up the years of competing for that opportunity I suppose.
Bingo! Wharton + put it all on the mat for one year. Ten years from now he can look back on it all with a smile while looking out his office window at JPM.

Honestly, this is why I hate these progressives so much. They jam their politics into everything. The one thing that heartens me is that people who just want to be left alone are starting to understand that these people are never going to leave us alone until they are forced to do so. They are too damned obnoxious and convinced of their own moral superiority. It’s a ****ing Penn State wrestling board! Only a complete asshole could jam their political opinions into the conversation. Mission accomplished.
Nice way to lump everyone together. That type of mass stereotyping is worse than one person’s rambling thoughts. I, for one, am one of your hated progressives and don’t think I have jammed anything anywhere🤔

Q, Bo, Max

We've had a lot of success with a smallish 197-pounders.

I doubt any of them had to cut weight.
true but it could come back to bite them like I said shirt Brooks, Dean at 84 Beard at 97 problem solved but only if Brooks will shirt!I was hoping that Beard would be happy still starting for 2 yrs, well I guess not!

If Brooks red shirts at all it would be most likely the following year to prepare for the 2024 Olympics.
That said, being a smallish 197 pounder is the perfect weight for an 86kg freestyle wrestler.

Yeah, all that is possible. Most of these scenarios though presume that Beard wants to wrestle 2-3 more years or that Brooks would want to come back and wrestle another 2 years after taking an Oly RS.

IMO, after observing how things went for many of the super Seniors this year, a lot of kids are going to think twice about wrestling Folk into their 6th or 7th year out of HS.

Either way, it's water under the bridge now. Beard has chosen to move on ... I wish him luck.

Please name any defending national champs who cut 13 lb the following year. We'll wait.

In his defense, this depends on Dean's walk-around weight. I mean, he was at 84 prior and he looked smallish at 97 to me. Not saying Dean should move to 84 again or anything like that.

Despite your nom de plume, you are not my "boss" (leader or chief) and probably no one else's either. So why should I reply to your request when you can't or seemingly won't defend an idea and associated SCOTUS decision as absurd as Citizen's United, one which patently undermines democratic norms and processes. But if you are sincerely interested, here is one article that makes the case why SCOTUS made a terrible situation far worse:

My points were related, but it is clear you are an authoritarian at heart (something signified by your "name".) Yes, Nomen est omen. You seem to live here on the forum for hours on end each day (for whatever reason) and speak as a self-appointed know-it-all about wrestling who prefers a (self-chosen) authorial voice . But one thing you clearly know little about is political philosophy and more particularly (and to the point) about how athletics has always been linked with political issues.
I showed my wife this post. She looked at me and said" I wonder what he was wearing when he posted"

Yep. I don't see the 197lb champ dropping weight a full year later. If anything he has another year to lift and get stronger and becoming more dominant.

LOL I was wrestling back then, I hope he wont question my wrestling knowledge again! So to me that wasnt that long ago!

Read the articles in the post above this one if you might wish to gain a new perspective. But perhaps you actually do prefer the smell of dead animals instead. Right wing politics and rabid sports fans (yes, "fanatic" is where the word comes from) are often closely linked. All the studies show that. The combination, in turn, tends to promote militarism, religious zealotry, intolerance, and much else. Have you ever wondered why so many authoritarian societies (Russia, Iran, Belarus, etc.) and authoritarian individuals embrace sports like wrestling? (It's not the fault of the sport itself either.)

I have to wonder why so many are un-interested in questioning market capitalism and the economy in general. The nascent "free agent" system in college sports (including wrestling) is part of that "invisible god" that so many people place unquestioned faith in or blindly worship.
Where do left wing politics fit in? Are they open to discussion and challenging of beliefs? Are they closely related to rabid sports fans?

I love the "all studies show" remark.

Part of the reason we don't like to discuss these topics on a wrestling board is because usually 1/3 the participants are clueless, arrogant, and disrespectful.

With all due respect, I'm only arrogant and clueless. I also think 83% of the posters on this board are just like me.

2. All in with Chris Hayes
3. The ReidOut
4. Deadline: Whitehouse
5. Morning Joe
To make an obvious point on this apparent political thread...Liberals don’t even like Rachel Maddows!

So I know this won’t be popular, wish Max Dean didn’t transfer in and Beard was our guy, we didn’t need those points for a Natty, jeez sayin’

I agree entirely. Look, you simply DO NOT turn down a guy the quality of Dean (based on wrestling ability or his character) if he inquires and wants to join your team, but I also wish he wouldn't have inquired. I hate the thought of losing Beard, even assuming Dean comes back and wins another title and someone else steps up after Dean leaves. It's going to really suck to be a PSU fan if Beard transfers and ends up beating Dean in the national finals. Of course all of us would be happy for Beard and likely feel badly for Dean, but it's really going to suck......

I'll still be pulling for Beard in every match. And as f'd up as this may sound, I may even find myself pulling for him against my beloved PSU. Yeah, I know. I said it's f'd up. But it's how I feel. 🤷‍♂️

No but the FACT is undoubtedly that you constantly act and talk like a complete authoritarian. So the name fits and that is likely why you got it . . . or at least still possess it. You try constantly to create little a fiefdom for your tiny thoughts and ideas (factoids) about wrestling which you police like, well, a bad cop on the take. Better ideas?. Meet me up sometime at a match and see if you can hold your own with me in any way!
Oh geez.
