Michigan - Alabama Citrus Bowl game thread

Announcers trying to blow Michigan's resume:

"That Penn State game was close. Michigan came back and only lost by 7"

"The loss to Ohio State was closer than it looked. Michigan dropped many passes"
All announcers try to promote the teams they're covering. What do you expect them to say? These teams suck and we don't understand why you're watching?

Bama can't do anything on O. Worried scUM has a good chance winning. Gotta rely on Saban thinking circles around Jimmah and the great Don Brown with adjustments.

Thought the replay overturn of the Minnesota TD in first and goal was terrible, looked like tip of ball got some of the goaline on the flip before the elbow was on the ground. Been a bad year for replay overturns of some calls on the field this year imo.

You could read Lil Runyan’s lips there. I think he said, “Folding? Did he say Folding? Wtf?”
His teammate said, “No Jon Holding.”
“Is that a penalty?”

It's all going according to DON BROWN's plan.

Lull the opponent to sleep with news of injuries on the defense. And then, BAM. Some pressure man-to-man DON BROWN defense, which will set Michigan's offense up for SPEED IN SPACE.

We're about to watch the wolverine being unleashed in Michigan football.

And come September/October, you'll see a lot of newborns around America bearing the name DON BROWN.

Wow wolvie hacked your account.

Define winning, do you mean scoring more points or having 7 or so less points than the other team. They seem to be awarded a victory either way.
Yeah they are technically 10-2 since they beat us so if they win today they'll move ahead of us in the polls.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I'd like to see hairbaugh actually put a game plan together that stomps Bama. Just tired of the SEC bias and over rating of the SEC coming into each season, and when the B10 performs well against other conferences that helps PSU's strength of schedule and ultimate rankings....

Not sure what the announcers are looking at, but Hutchison very clearly hit the QB (both initial hit and unnecessary follow-thru hit) in the "Head and Neck Area", which is an illegal hit on receivers and QB.

That’s nice, however a win by Michigan is meaningless here regarding PSU. The season is over, finished, complete and done. Earth shattering decisions regarding rankings won’t flow from this. If you think one win is going to change National perception and sports writers and columnists love for the SEC you have not been paying attention since the dawn of the 21st century.

I agree with you when listening to the Auburn game. Just constantly jerking off the $EC despite Minnesota physically kicking their asses all over the field.

Just can’t root for Michigan though. All the ridiculous, imaginary bull crap they apply to the $EC applies to scUM 365 days a year.

The announcers in the Minnesota game are actively rooting for Auburn.

Agree. Can someone explain how Minnesota and Michigan losing makes Penn State look better.

can someone please explain to me how our conference rivals winning helps PSU?

also, please explain why PSU fans root for other teams to win on this board?

they paused briefly to affirm that Ohio State was screwed by replay....its unbelievable how this has brought out the media in favor of questioning calls in a game

but yes they are absolutely shocked that a big ten team can punch an SEC team in the mouth

It only helps us in that we'd leap Alabama in the AP/coaches polls. Not that it really matters much.

There's the whole "conference perception" thing. But whatever. The ACC blowing goats doesn't seem to impact Clemson's recruiting. Or even FSU's recruiting, for that matter.

I'm firmly in the RTR camp today. But I am pulling for Minnesota over Auburn.

It doesn’t. On the flip side Michigan and Minnesota winning doesn't make Penn St look better either.

We recruit against scUM and need to play them every year. scUM getting a big win over Bama lifts them up and by definition knocks us down. Especially when you compare the opponent we would have beaten, Memphis vs Bama.

Furthermore, this argument that if the B10 does well then PSU benefits is really fake news. Recruits perceptions are shaped by how specific teams do not conferences. Are recruits not going to O$U because they play in a conference that has Rutgers?

Ding, ding, ding.... we have a winner. Other b1g bushleague teams winning does not make PSU look better; OTOH, them losing is a competitive plus for PSU recruiting.

It might not help but it also doesn't hurt.

I think it makes Penn State better to play in a strong conference as to one perceived as a crap conference.
