I tore my rotator cuff in about the first minute of mat action in 20 years, so about as well as could be expected 😂How’s that been workin out for ya?😉
Bookmarking for when Alex wins Oly gold. This is not the reason for the shirt. This is how they chose to deal with the log jam and Facundo wanted something to do in the interim.
Not just another possibility, but likely the truth. (If we can trust Cael. )Yes, you are correct. Your description would be a little smoother sip of whiskey.
But there are many possibilities.
165 was getting to be a tough cut and is focusing on 174 next year is another possibility.
Finding "something to do" was probably not how Alex would describe it.
He's setting himself up to have to beat out Barr, Ryder, and Sealey in the future instead of Haines and Mesenbrink.FWIW, I am a huge fan of Facundo sitting this year out. He was at 170 in his senior year of high school so making 165 probably was not getting any easier. Alex remains a high-ceiling prospect and I am excited to see him at 174 post-Starocci.
With zero inside information I’d bet Levi won the spot at 157 much like Mitch won the spot at 165Valid questions that unfortunately went off the rails quickly. Mesenbrink and O'Toole are training partners at the Askren Wrestling Academy. Ben has (wisely) never mentioned who gets the better of who on any of his podcasts to my knowledge.
FWIW, I am a huge fan of Facundo sitting this year out. He was at 170 in his senior year of high school so making 165 probably was not getting any easier. Alex remains a high-ceiling prospect and I am excited to see him at 174 post-Starocci.
As for Mitchell at 165, he appeared undersized at Journeyman. Could just be me but Levi looked huge for a 157. Maybe Haines is remaining at 157 because it is a more feasible path to a championship. Just a thought.
Well to be fair he had no choice , his choice comes when the portal opens up again .He's setting himself up to have to beat out Barr, Ryder, and Sealey in the future instead of Haines and Mesenbrink.
Guns, is that you? This is not the reason for the shirt. This is how they chose to deal with the log jam and Facundo wanted something to do in the interim.
Disloyal Cael recruiting over him with the #1 overall recruits in the country. He should have left them for Iowa. LOL.Well to be fair he had no choice , his choice comes when the portal opens up again .
I wish him the best regardless of his decision.
FIFY 😂To be the best, you have to play dodge ball in the room.
I second the nickname Mess until a better one, one the teammates come up with maybe.Anyone see AFac or Mess winning 165 this year?
High likelihood that either guy would have to beat BOTH Carr and KOT at nats. Now thats a tall task.
Maybe Facundo is making the smarter move.
Now that Mess has declined his ORS, he wont be around to get one in ‘28, right?
This one got me pretty good, not gonna lie. I enjoy a good burn as much as the next guy. In my defense for the 1000th time, Ben Askren, he who's camp is crushing it, and Seed King, self-proclaimed knower of all things wrestling, also agree about the roster stuff. Also, I just contacted PSU about the roster. Even though they were the last school in the entire country to post an updated roster, somehow with all that time to get it right, they messed it up. They had Kelly's bio attached to Connor Pierce. It is fixed now and while I may b*tch and moan, my motivation is pure, I want the Blue and White to be the best at everything, always. In fact, I have contacted someone there regarding some changes to the website to make it a better fan experience. So once you all are done busting my balls, take a moment to consider anything that you think would improve the fan experience and I can pass it along. It occurred to me that if at any time I'm looking for information about our wrestlers, the PSU Wrestling site is the absolute last place I look. I would it to be the first place, to be like more of a HUB for information about our guys. One thing I think would be cool is having a link to their high school record for PA that would be https://www.pa-wrestling.com/wrestler_search.htm. Just spit ballin'. All suggestions welcome...even from some of you grumpy f*cks out there because you still know a sh*t-ton about wrestling.
Ì suggest a prerequisite for posting privileges. Posters should be born before the Cael Era began. This one got me pretty good, not gonna lie. I enjoy a good burn as much as the next guy. Right? Winning that weight class would itself be a brutal endeavor but I'm the d*ckhead for stating the obvious that Dake and Sidakov are beyond troublesome.Anyone see AFac or Mess winning 165 this year?

Did you infer the Carter part from the comments about facundo getting bigger to go up ?If Cael is to be believed, Alex and Mitchell did NOT wrestle off. He says the catalyst for the decision was Carter confirming his return.
That’s weird, I swear at the end of the video that I watched earlier, Cael said something about waiting until Carter knew he was coming back to make the decision.Did you infer the Carter part from the comments about facundo getting bigger to go up ?
Not just another possibility, but likely the truth. (If we can trust Cael. )
“This was something he was excited for the opportunity to do. When it looked like we knew Carter was coming back ...he wasn’t going to be able to go at 174,” Sanderson said. “It gave him the opportunity to take advantage of this time, and train up some freestyle.”
He might not be the biggest guy at 165, but he just won a U23 world championship at 74 kg (163 lb) by teching his way through the competition.Mitchell looked smaller than all 3 guys he wrestled last weekend. As talented as he is I suspect there may be a body type he has trouble with.....especially early on. Last year Dean would beat quality wrestlers like Warner but have significant trouble against certain guys that Warner would beat. Dean was smaller than just about everyone he wrestled. The good news is that March is a long way off. 5-7 lbs. of muscle is not out of the question. In any event his skill and gas tank will make him a tough out for anyone. It is scary to think that this year will almost certainly be the "worst" version of Mitchell we see. Gonna be fun to watch!
Was going to ask how everyone was so sure MM beats Facundo. If Cael is to be believed, Alex and Mitchell did NOT wrestle off. He says the catalyst for the decision was Carter confirming his return.
Because shiny new toy.Was going to ask how everyone was so sure MM beats Facundo.

Ducky, there’s a lot of ball busting between posters here. It mostly seems good natured and fun. And many of us bitch and moan about the timeliness of the roster coming out …This one got me pretty good, not gonna lie. I enjoy a good burn as much as the next guy. So is Fecundo shirting because he feels he's got a shot at a medal or because it's a good way to "spend his time" productively while preserving eligibility? I'm beginning to think this isn't a place for critical thinking at all but instead just an echo chamber.Ducky, there’s a lot of ball busting between posters here. But when you throw shade at one of the wrestlers or their family - that crosses a line and results in harsh blowback like the one that you said ‘got me pretty good’. We know families read and post on this board.…. think before you post that crap.
There are more ways to make the point you are trying to make without simultaneously inferring Alex’s dad is a liar and taking a dookie on a world-class freestyler’s dreams than you seem to either:So is Fecundo shirting because he feels he's got a shot at a medal or because it's a good way to "spend his time" productively while preserving eligibility? Like Beard, if he leaves, I hope he comes in second in nationals wherever he goes.
you mean Facundo get to your thinking critically LOL just foolin! So is Fecundo shirting because he feels he's got a shot at a medal or because it's a good way to "spend his time" productively while preserving eligibility? It's all about tone, man. As I said above, there are many ways to bring up your feelings of Alex's chances of making the Olympic team. @js8793 makes arguments like these about Alex's upside regularly, and with tact and class, for example. Quoting his dad's tweet of support for his son to say he's FOS is among the least tactful and classy ways to do it. Especially since we all know there are athletes' dads who read (and post on) this forum--it's not all that different from saying it to his face. I doubt very much any of them care in the least what you think--but that's not the point. Yes, this community has some standards, and we will call you on it when you seem to delight in twisting them. Not Guns but considering all the hate he got on here, he sounds like he must have been a pretty reasonable dude. Sh*tting on his dreams? I'm sure he has had these aspirations since elementary school at least and if his Dad had sent out a Tweet in 2nd grade that his child was about to make an Olympic run, any response other than all in would make me some kind of jerk? I wouldn't say it to his or his father's face because that would be rude but I can't talk about it at all because someone may catch wind of it? Gimme a break. It's not his time yet and being a pragmatist is not stifling someone's goals. He's not doing this because he thinks he has a chance. He's doing this to gain experience while out of the rotation so to speak. For grown ass men you guys spend a lot of time telling other people how to behave and think. Echo chamber.
