I was surprised to see nothing here about the action, esp. involving Penn Staters at the US Open; have gotten some info, but would appreciate links and like to hear comments if someone attended or watched much of it.

Ahhhh, makes sense. I love the Ignore feature for 2 guys other than him.

Happy reading! There are already over 40,000 views of that thread so far...

JRs -

Nick Lee - 5th...a loss in the semis that he gave up a big lead and couldn't convert on his TD attempts and a loss in the conso semis that I didn't see.

Joe Lee - 2nd...dominating tourney until he ran in to Parriot (RS Frosh from Purdue) in the finals.

Mark Hall - 1st and JR division Outstanding Wrestler...tech'd his way through the tourney and steamrolled Marinelli (RS freshman from Iowa) in the finals.

SRs -

Nico - DNP...lost to Tomasello by 1 point and then defaulted out of the tourney (not sure why)

RBY - DNP...lost to Ramos in the first round and someone else. Looked decent early, just a little outmatched as a HS JR in the SR division. Props for giving it a go!

Zain - 3rd...lost a controversial match to Oliver (maybe not controversial, just product of crappy FS rules) and battled back with some good wins in consos.

Frank - 2nd...lost in the finals to Oliver on criteria. Wrestled well all tourney and hit a double that was absolutely nasty in the semis I think.

Nolf - 4th...losses to Green and Pami. He looked good all weekend and had his opponent gassed in the 2nd period of both losses. He just got outdone in a less familiar style.

Bo - 4th...losses came to Perry and Heflin. Difference looked to be a possible strength disadvantage and maybe the fact that his primary focus is still on folk. He looked good and he smoked Downey (who beat Dean, Avery, Crutchmer, and Renda).

DT - 1st and SR division Outstanding Wrestler...tech'd his way through the tournament and looked amazing!

SR Greco -

Manville - 1st...awesome tourney and he beat Bey in 2 straight matches in the best of three finals. Earned his spot on the world team!

I know that we had others and some of this is minimal, but this is what I recall...there's your cliffnotes!

What weight will Manville wrestle at PSU? Does he backup Joseph, Hall, or Nickal? He looked bigger than what I remembered.

I suspect Manville can get at least 3 years in the lineup. Hall will probably take a RS in 18-19 and so believe Manville will take over that year and then move up after Bo moves on. It can work for him if he goes higher in weight. Question is, can he?

Or take Hall's Olympic RS as well and then move up in weight afterwards.

The Pami match shows the scoring differences between the 2 styles as much as any I've seen.

Like folkstyle, it's a process, and Jason will get much better. But in the Pami bout, most of Pami's points would not be points in folkstyle, and I had it something like 8-2, or 6-2 Jason wrestling his familiar style.

Only pointing out the scoring differences, that's all. Says a lot about Jason, Zain, and Bo's talent, to come out 4th, 3rd, and 4th at the U.S. Open, against guys that do freestyle full-time. The NLWC future is bright.
