Key there is that the defender knew he had already thrown the ball and actively initiated a hit rather than pulling up - it is supposed to be called under those circumstances.

The PF was clear at the edge of the Skycam before the break. Sutherland creamed a guy over ten yards from the ball just as Brown was tackled. Might even have been blind side.

Franklin explained it to him on the sideline. i.e. that the object is not to run off 4 seconds going towards the PSU bench, but to just get up the field what you can....
