My hot take is that this is not good news. He was the best we had and I think would be a solid #3.

Unless he goes to a minor program, I think this is pretty funny. If he goes to a minor program, I understand and good luck to the kid.

He’ll go to a lower level D1 program or Mid major. His route running is atrocious, never goes up for the ball. Only good at go routes, which he did pretty successfully actually but we need better route runners and guys who can get open.
He lost us the game at the end vs ND with the laziest route you will see by a D1 WR in crunch time of a semi final playoff game.
I talked to his family at the Wisconsin game and was told this was going to happen.
Yeah he was checked out. It’s sad bc the rest of the team fought like hell.
And he’s the one to lose us the ND game but he runs a lazy af route vs ND. Really as he’s done all year. Only good at go routes.

There will be ones to sign; we only need a couple talented ones. I mean, how many receivers do you need? There were too many on the roster as there was.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe he, like Saunders, were high school quarterbacks who were just exceptional athletes. neither one of them was going to play quarterback at the big college level so they were told they needed to play receiver, but yet have never been able to put together the type of complete body of work needed to be a receiver at this level. Hands, route running, toughness, blocking, ability to get off the line, etc. none of those things are anything more than average from him.

Given there is nothing remotely positive in the WR room, this shouldn't be a surprise. Whoever heads the room is going to have to rebuild from the ground up.
Too bad Franklin and the OC didn't have the courage to put him on the bench once they found out about his "I'm outta here" attitude and give a hungier younger WR such as Denmark the playing time in the playoff to help prepare them for future opportunities in big games. It's hindsight but Denmark or another young WR couldn't have caught less passes vs ND.....
He was also cost us at the end of the Oregon game. Either not strong enough or not enough of a fighter to be a top receiver at this level.
Well I don’t think he’s going to lose any sleep over what you think. What is really funny is a nobody like you thinking your criticism of an elite college athlete is relevant.

He gave an opinion on a message board full of overweight and out of shape guys sharing opinions on their team.

Isn't that kind of the point though. Our WRs were simply unable to run routes, catch contested balls or find soft spots in zone that an unknown is an upgrade.
Maybe he'll go to Ohio State and a great WR coach will get something out of him but that's just not happen here.
He was basically a one-dimensional receiver. This is not a great loss imo. But they will probably have to do better in the portal now than previously. Problem is not much to choose from at this point. So, are they banking on incoming guys and Tyseer? Relying on young unproven talent? This is a critical situation imo. But I doubt they can be much worse than this last year.
It’s based on his telling all of us what we can and cannot say in other posts. From that aggressive, maniacal position that he has tried to force upon us, I am merely pointing out that what he thinks doesn’t make the world go round. And especially when it comes to critiquing scholarship athletes. What he thinks is funny I think is a joke so I guess we’re even. I welcome everyone’s opinions as you rightly point out but that’s not this cat’s game.
He is not going to get anywhere near OSU as their WR room is deep with talent. That is unless he contributes to the NIL money pool there for WR’s instead of receiving any. Pay to play (on the scout team).
Hagans sucks and this is 2 years in a row where we end the year with the feedback or smoke signals that the WR room is toxic. How does this guy have a job still?

I couldn’t agree more. I think the Marques Haggens story needs to end. As far as replacing Evan’s’ production, it looks like Ross can do that. Anything that Ross can achieve over and above go routes is a net positive.
I just don't get it. I played WR in high school, and unless you lack some physical trait like quickness or speed, it shouldn't be that hard to run a route correctly. Unless the WR are required to make reads on every play and they hesitate because they're not 100% sure what route to run.
If a WR falls in the forest but has zero catches, does he make a sound entering the portal?
It's a teachable skill, particularly through repitition. I don't think this WR room had a lot of guys working on running routes on their own.
They didn't have anyone working on anything. Hagans needs to be held accountable for people seemingly NEVER getting better. Fing Fleming was WORSE here than at OSU and that is almost impossible. Clifford was never a star but was worse after Hagans got here.
They probably realize they have no where else to go. Has Ivey played more than like 3 snaps his whole career? Saunders was hurt this year so there is a remote, remote chance if healthy he could actually do something for us.
Saunders by his own admission hasn't worked hard enough ... he got by in high school because he was more talented and had more speed than most and entered college with that attitude. Now he is playing against people just as fast and more talented and he wasn't working hard to improve. He seems to finally waking up but I am not counting on it along with his injuries.
And if a guy like Clifford gets any kind of NIL money it’s probably more than a job out of college and likely enjoys playing football more than a crap job out of college anyway.
And honestly PSU is one of the least competitive wr rooms in Power 4 football right now.
