OT: I’m gonna lose 25 pounds by June.

At some point we'll need to determine the collective weight loss by the board (not counting suspended posters).

A proper spandex weigh in. I’m down.

My ever loving family bought a gallon of Ritcheys ice cream (my favorite, even over the Creamery) and made a big pan of brownies. They're so damn supportive.

I broke down and made a banana milkshake and had a brownie.

Let it slide one day a week and get back on the horse. I don't think it's sustainable to cut out everything we love. Just need to keep it reasonable. I'm giving myself a set amount of indulgences daily. I don't have too far to go but you guys inspired me to do things a little better and it's working. But I don't want to cut things out to the point that I don't stick with it or that I'm depriving myself of things that I really enjoy. Moderation baby. Oh and stepping up the workouts.

The fact that you came on here and told this story means that you’ll be that much more resistant to temptation down the road.

Besides the gym I do 250 40-lb kettlebell swings a day. (It takes twenty minutes: ten groups of 15 and then 10 swings at the top of the minute.) I freaking hate doing them. I keep doing them because they’re an important part of my plan and I said on this board that I’m tenacious. I know that if I skip one day then I’ll start skipping more and more. So I do them every damn day.

Dr Mark Hyman from Cleveland Clinic, and author of a dozen NYT best sellers, is a huge proponent of very low carb diets. He says we eat three meals a day that’s 21 per week and it’s ok if we reward ourselves with something a couple meals. That doesn’t mean an entire pizza but a small portion of a favorite snack food is ok.

He does say the first three weeks try to be very strict as that reduces inflammation caused by carbs, cleanses you gut biome, and changes your metabolism.

Well I don’t know about all that but my reward today is this:

I have been very strict so far, not that it's been that long. My indulgence had been a fruit smoothie with just fruit, milk and ice.

I've also been walking around 3 miles each day. That's been rough because it's so damn cold. I'll ramp that up to 8-10 miles when the temps break.

I've cut out processed carbs like white bread and alcohol. With the exception of some soft tortilla shells for fajitas and wraps.

You're right. It's just having access to food, especially junk food, all day stinks for me. But I've been pretty good about it.

I want to get into a dumbbell workout routine. I just need to pick some up when I get a chance.

Today 214
1/4/21 224

Walking min 4 miles a day in neighborhood and what ever else regular walking i get through out the day. Trying to get to back to 15,000 steps a day which is where i was last summer. Warmer weather will help. Cutting back on carbs and beers during the week.
That's about where I was last summer. I maintained 100k steps a week on my fitbit for quite some time. Much of it with decent elevation changes.

I'm around 8-10k a day right now, which isn't bad for how bad the weather has been.

Here is a recipe for tikka masala curry sauce and chicken (crockpot) which is very easy to make, very good and almost always causes me to lose weight the next day.

1. About 10 petite potatoes cut in half and microwaved for about 4 minutes with 2 tbsp of water.
2. 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
3. 2 jars of tikka masala sauce (15 Oz -- I use Patak's)
4. 1 or 2 peppers cut into 1.5" pieces
5. 3 cups cauliflowerets (cut into pieces)
6. 3/4 tsp. of salt

Cooking steps
1. Microwave the potatoes as above
2. Mix all of the ingredients above in addition to the potatoes and slow cook in 5-6qt slow cooker for 4-5 hours or until chicken is fully cooked.

The sauce actually looks great when cooked and this has become one of my top 5 foods. You can substitute other vegetables if you wish. I serve it over rice. As added bonus, it is so easy, I have never screwed it up once. Can keep for several days in the refrigerator.

For an added kick you can add 1-1.5 tsp of Chinese Sweet Garlic Chili Sauce. (This is in no way sweet to American tastes and adds a bit more of a spicy taste to the dish)

So, LJ how is it going? Have you done so far.
I’m at 218, started at 224. It would be tough to lose another 20. Regardless, I no longer need to suck in my gut when a pretty female in the gym walks by, so there’s that.

Every day I put in between 60-70 minutes in the gym, plus 250 40-lb kettlebell swings, 20 minutes. I’m very pleased with my gym work, becoming much more focused and smarter, less stuck in my ways. I’m lifting heavier, too, but smart; I won’t get injured. I’m on a much better daily schedule, putting in good time towards my math work. I’m eating much better. I’m trying hard to resist posting weird-ass threads on the board, with decidedly mixed results.

Thanks for asking.
