Not necessarily. If his last weighin was on a plus one day, that extra pound does not alter your descent.

For example, you weigh in at 140.1 on a plus one day, it is entered as 139.1 for OPC purposes.
McCort was in D6 Duals last week. One match on T 1/28, then 2 matches on Sat 2/1. (Herring competed in all 3.) Would there have been a 2nd weigh-in on 2/1 with an allowance?

If any of the teams participating in the D6 tournament had a match on Friday, all the teams get an extra pound.

We had 65 teams at ETR this year. One of them had a match in Friday (I don't think any of their starters even wrestled in it). All 65 teams got plus 3 (normal post Christmas 2 + another pound) on Saturday and plus 4 on Sunday.

There is only one weigh in per day no matter how many duals you have.

None competed on Friday. The event was T 1/28, W 1/29, and Sat 2/1.

Well then the only way it could have been plus one on Saturday is if a participant school was closed or unable to practice on Friday (closed early).

Iowa's at the BJC? School's closed.

Maybe D6 gave them all an under-the-table Creamery allowance.

I don't think Herring is eligible for 133 this weekend.
I was thinking about Jax to 127. Completely glossed over Herring.

If McCort gets Jax to 127 to take on Joey B for team states, that's a net win regardless of whether anyone else drops. 127 goes from solid advantage Faith to solid advantage McCort, and Carfley should win up at 133

Big difference is that McCort probably needs to win the coin toss for Jax-Joey to happen.

The railway is open, but the tour center/lookout point is closed IIRC
I was at the lookout point a number of years ago taking pictures and filming a video of the passing trains for my train-loving grandson when we looked into the parking lot below and about 30 cars from the 1920s, 30s and 40s had pulled in. Snapped some great pictures of some well preserved vintage cars.

There is no rule in between matches on different dates. However, on match day u can only wrestle the weight u weighed in at or the one above your weigh in weight.
I was going to say Cunningham was listed at 215 for the duals at Central mountain though maybe it was a misprint or he went up to get the forfeit lol

How do you close an active railway line?

The property at the Horseshoe Curve National Historic Landmark is operated by the Railroaders Memorial Museum.
When closed, access to the grounds is strictly prohibited. Thank you for the understanding and support!

Now, there are steps to the top viewing area, but I'm pretty sure the parking lot is closed off by a gate, although you could park off of the road and take your chances.

That's how you visited in the 1970s

The PIAA needs do something with public and private schools in some of the sports
In wrestling they need Big and Small School Public Divisions and one Private School Division. Example Faith beat Northwestern 75-0 last night. Enough said.
In Football / Basketball instead of 6 classes.
Go 4 Public Schools and 2 Private School classes.

Move all non boundaries to AAA to start. Then divide schools in half between AA and AAA with all privates in AAA.

I think that they need to go further with the competitive balance formula. The three divisions will just cause parents to pack their kids into a slightly larger number of public schools. There's is public school coach near me actively recruiting a half dozen parents I know personally to their school right now. Make a super team division based on prior success and number of kids who weren't in your system prior to 7th grade (maybe an exception for physical moves). You'll catch the privates and publics who are gaming the system. I realize that this is way too complicated for the PIAA to actually implement, but it would solve much of the problem for the rule-followers.

IMO a competitive balance solution is better. At least in wrestling, most PIAA private schools do not prioritize athletics like Beca, NDGP, FCA, McCort, and McDevitt do.

But make it annual for bumps up, 2-yr cycle for bumps down. FCA and McCort should be AAA now based upon last year alone.

A blanket policy of all AAA or separate division would needlessly punish those programs.

And let's see how much staying power FCA has. Will they still be good after the Bachmanns graduate? McCort is gonna evaporate after 2026.

All good thoughts. I know the 2 best teams should not be competing AA this year. If I'm not mistaken a school can go up on their own accord without PIAA dictating.
I know 1976 Saucon Valley went up on their own and won ,AAA State Title. They had 3 State individual champs.

Either could’ve opted up before this year and did not. Mccort made a big deal about the PIAA denying their petition to go AAA last year mid cycle. Assuming they decided to stay AA to go head to head with Faith.

Per PA Power, Aaron Siedel is currently 8 wins away from breaking the all time wins record for the state of PA. The record is currently held by Zack Kemmerer (Upper Perkiomen) who went 199-18. They’re projecting him to get his 200th win in the regional tournament

Forrest wrestled and weighed in at 127 for the team tournament. No idea if he stays there for the individual tournament but if he does stay down then Siedel will be the heavy favorite at AA 133.

I was just told by a pretty good source that Jax will up at 133. I'm a little surprised. I didn't think he'd drop until he weighed in at 129 on the first day of the state duals, but once he did that I wasn't sure.

How’s this for a no-depth PIAA AA state bracket:

2020; 126

Crookham
Haines
Arrington
David Evans
Noah Frack (D1 Starter)
Tyler Cymmerman (D1 wrestler)
Connor Pierce
Gable Strickland (2x NQ)
David Kreidler (D1 Wrestler)

Several others that wrestled in college at D2 or D3.

Did I miss it somewhere that Nate Desmond and Vince Bouzakis were out for the end of the hs season? Neither were at the state preps and not at nationals.

Northwestern’s Sierra Chiesa won her 100th match last night at the AA NW Region Championships. She’s the first female to ever win 100 matches in PA history
Following up on this: Sierra announced her commitment to the Gannon Women’s wrestling team today. She currently sports a 129-43 career record headed into this weekend’s D10 tournament

BECA had a terrible Friday night at District 11 tournament. I think they are in 5th place.
They still should win it - they’re going to have the best semifinal round of everybody. Notre Dame has ten in semis, but I think they only get three through, Becahi should be pretty confident if going 6-for-6 this morning.

Becahi isn’t as deep as they’ve been, and those spots in the lineup all lost. The other four are balanced enough lineups to shoot past them early. The only big “oh no” for Becahi is DeLuise injury defaulting one second into his second match. He’s been hurt all year, and I’m assuming he aggravated it and can’t go. He’s really talented (Bloomsburg commit, medalist last year) but hasn’t been healthy at all. Sucks for the kid. Brock Frable from Southern Lehigh is the other big injury default, he was ranked in the teens by PAPower at 152 and the 2 seed.

Very chalk results so far, the only high seed crashing the party is the 145 from Parkland (15 seed), but he was also a D11 junior high champ last year and is not exactly an unknown.
