Pitt fans say the darndest things

The sad truth is that Pitt has not won an NCAA championship in any sport.
And they finished 131 in the Learfield Directors Cup this year. That's the worst of any P5 team and 50 spots below Rutgers. How can any P5 team finish 50 spots below Rutgers.

Why would any fans ever do that? I don’t get it.
Back in he 80s, when I lived in Northern VA, I went to a couple of Maryland games that did not involve us and they did the same. Don't know if it still happens. Futility against an opponent can be very frustrating for fans and I guess they have to get their cheers out while they're not losing to us.

Pitt fans discussing Tyler Boyd’s new $43 million contract with the Bengals. One clown said nobody from Penn State or WVU is doing anything from the WR position in the NFL. Another reason to go to Pitt: play early and get started making big bucks in the pros. Guess the clown never heard of Allen Robinson. Or upcoming players like Chris Godwin and Daesean Hamilton.

If that is what Boyd is making having gone to Pitt, imagine how much more he would be making if he went to PSU!

Why do so many Pitt players get so much better in the NFL? Or were they really that good at Pitt but they still lost all the time? Either way tells me it was poor coaching.

I wouldn’t say it’s “so many”. Every now and again they take a chance on an elite athlete that other schools pass in for various reasons. After losing at Pitt for short time, and playing a cake schedule they arrive in the NFL not banged up and with a chip in their shoulder.

This really is interesting. This source of pride for Pitt fans, i.e., look how good our players do in the NFL, is really a condemnation of their program. Over the past 15, 20 years even, they've had several players who have gone on to have good/great NFL careers. Yet their teams at Pitt over that time have been a big yawn. How is that possible? I think the simple answer is is that their program just really stinks.

Shady McCoy is the shining example.

I understand you may not like the college of his choice, but the guy has been through more adversity than most people and deserves some respect.

I have to agree, he seems like a stand up individual that’s been through a lot: cancer, Pitt, etc. You can not like the school he couldn’t wait to leave, or the fact that he single handedly fumbled away the Steelers chance at the playoffs... but don’t hate the man.

I responded to someone else who posted "pitter" in reference to the photo of Conner. So I responded with a play on Dylan. Obviously it was a general reference to pitters, not specific to Conner. Even if I had referred to Conner specifically, he is a pitter. People can knock off the constant sensitivity around the guy. We all know he beat cancer.
