Pitt fans say the darndest things

I don't think you need a clairovoyant to tell you that pitt will suck ass this year.
Can you look into the future and tell us what is in store for Pitt's football team and their tens of fans?
I can tell you what is in store for the "Pamfers" on September 14th: PAIN! A metric sh** ton of it, plus some additional pain just for good measure.

Narduzzi press conference “15 returning starters....actually 12 because 3 are grad transfers”.

Don’t they actually have to either start for your team or the team they transferred from to be considered “returning” “starters”

What a snake oil salesman and the Pitt fanbase is dumb enough to buy

Pitt’s schedule, while not exactly easy, is easier than it has been. It helps that PSU and UCF will probably be more down than the past two seasons.

I doubt I said that. Still had McSorley and a lot of established talent.

Joe Moorhead is a huge loss, too. PSU isn’t as good, and Pitt is better, so the big discrepancy is not the same as last season.

You’re going off course. PSU was No. 8 two years ago, No. 17 last year, and is predicted 4th in their division this year. That’s the point, and the facts that back it up.

Last year was an anomaly because of the worst performance by a punter in college football history. If it wasn’t for that, Pitt is leading at the half. Then it’s unknown how the rest of the game would go.

This is the most talent and depth that Pitt has had*

Since 2019 is the last scheduled game against Penn State, we asked Pitt's players what it means to be playing in the rivalry. Here's what they said at Media Day on Friday.

Chase Pine: “Growing up, I never really did like Penn State but I didn’t think I was going to come here from Virginia. Now that I’m playing for Pitt against Penn State, it could be the last one forever, so I feel like we have to go out with a win.”

Jimmy Morrissey: “It means a lot. A lot of my friends go to Penn State. Some of my closest friends go to Penn State. I’m from the Philly area, so everybody is a Penn State fan. They all go to Penn State. They call it State. I’ve never drank the magic Kool-Aid. I never liked them. I still don’t like them. And it’s going to mean a lot to go to Happy Valley and play them.”

Taysir Mack: “It definitely means a lot. Anytime you can bring the team to play on a big stage, we see that as a big one.”

Saleem Brightwell: “We just look at it like every other game. We’re going to play it like every game: hard, fast and physical. I didn’t really care about Penn State, but I do dislike them in my fifth year. I’ve grown to not like them. I started out not caring, but now it’s my last year here and I really don’t like them.”

He didn’t learn from last year. Having your kids so hyped up to play one game, especially against a team with a decided talent advantage, makes no sense. They were able to hang around for a bit last year but as soon as the game got out of hand his team collapsed. He just doesn’t get it. Has so little understanding of how to lead.

...with a notable exception that much of the media who covers PSU doesn't actually like PSU...
the extreme PSU homers seem to be limited to twitter accounts.
The Altoona Mirror and Harrisburg Patriot staffs hate PSU (especially Rudel, Giger, Jones, and Flounders). Other than those, with a few exceptions, I think the PSU media is pretty fair.

Of course there are many who are "fair", and some even PSU fans, but the context for the response was essentially attention-seeking homers.

The first "attention-seekers" related to PSU that came to mind seemed to be the OPPOSITE of homers...you listed a few. The "fair" media members, or even those who are obviously PSU fans, do not typically act like homers. The only exceptions that fit both the "attention-seeking" and "homer" criteria seem to be a few twitter accounts.

This is related to 2020 recruiting, but for obvious reasons it seemed wise to post in this thread instead:

Although this is likely a 247 anomaly over which Pitt has no control, apparently RB recruit Berger revealed a Top 10 list on June 18. A corresponding (and the most recent) entry on the 247 timeline (which seems to typically just capture offers and visits) is from June 19 and states that "Pitt makes the Top 10 for Top247 prospect"...

??? ...again, not necessarily a Pitt issue, but just seemed odd o_O

Every team has its delusional media whores, but Dokish and Peak are in a class by themselves.

Really, what else could we expect? Pushing delusions is how they sell their sites. If they were brutally honest about Pitt, it would not be good for business. Pitt fans dream this time of year, they don’t want to hear it’s going to be another 0.500 season and yet another loss to Penn State, the tenth time in the last twelve games.

I don’t disagree. I prefer fair to homers though.

As I stated, some sites are much more delusional than others.

I am going with my pitt frat brothers. We are unsure yet if we will be doing any trolling before the game but you better believe after upsetting the nitters we will be doing our fair share of celebrating. Cant wait.

I'm sure they won't be doing any trolling before the game, and won't be doing any celebrating afterwards.

Somebody needs to remind him they lost 51-6 last year AT HOME and they arguably lost more talent from that team than we did.
