Pitt fans say the darndest things

Look at the number of players drafted between the two schools since Franklin arrived, f*cko. And what is the trasition at TE? Freiermuth was a freshman all american.

Here's how I see things:
We have a returning QB Pickett and he has to be better than last season.
We lost RB's but have 4 talented RB's who as a group will pick up the slack.
Our LB's were never D1 material and IMO we improve in that position group.
We have good depth at OL and DL we'll atleast be as good as last season.

WR's same as last year just like DB's.
Saftey up in the air but Ford must be a step up!

Overall atleast as good as last season.
+ Whipple+

Nitters have a complicated transition to a new QB, new TE, WR's and they lost a star RB, and alot
of key guys on the line!

Sure they have other talent but Franklin hasn't been one to develop talent IMO!

We play them early++

Translation: All our bad players who backed up all of our bad players last year are going to beat all your good players that we offered way before we offered our bad players

In addition, we have 4 running backs who were rated a lot lower than your running backs but they will succeed yours will not. Our QB stunk last year but he is coming back too

Remember, last year they were going to beat us because we lost Barkley (51-6)....this year it’s because we lost Trace.

Since Trace always played better than he actually was, he won't be a big loss.

I wouldn’t want to sit through an entire Pitt game to get it either.

No one does, that is why they take a nap. Fast forward to the free beverage.

WVU looked at us as a rival as well. I discovered that when I moved there and it was quite a surprise. I looked at them more like Rutgers or Temple over the years since we always beat them.
Many years ago, Joe was the featured speaker at the Morgantown Touchdown Club Dinner. In a Q and A, he was asked when he thought WVU would consistently play even with and beat PSU. He said, "when you get better players."

The guy has to be embarrassed for being exposed. The content, shots at Joe/PSU, volume, colorful fonts, were over the top. All kidding aside, I hope he doesnt have CTI or some other medical issue. He was a posting addict. I cant see how he would be able to conduct any type of business due to his 24/7 posting.

You would think he would have returned with a new ID and quickly worked his way up to a valued and respected contributor.

How did everyone figure out it was him? I don't remember.

I think between a new QB, lackluster WRs, and an improved Pitt defense - we can completely shut down their passing game. Hopefully our front seven will hold up against the run game too. I can't see them having much of an offense next season as they struggled last year and offensive recruits are avoiding them like the plague.

I actually think the passing game will be the better part of the offense this year.

I think the major offensive question mark will be the pass protection early of CJ Thorpe at guard and Walker at LT. You have to get those guys settled in. Clifford is a relatively new QB, but we saw him come into games last year stone cold from sitting on the bench and just rip off 40 yard passes and put them right on the money time after time. Hamler was a freshman all american, and he and Dotson both showed they were good receivers last year. Between transfer Carr and former 5* Shorter, we need one of them to step up as the 3rd WR. We have some games to get it together before the Big Ten slate.

I have been thinking the exact same thing. Trace completed 53.2% of his passes. That is awful for a college QB. Yes, he brought the intangibles and the running, but it was really difficult for the offense to stay on track and play complementary football when our QB would go through quarter plus streaks where he couldn’t complete simple passes. We were always in games with him at QB down the stretch, but he bore a lot of responsibility for digging the hole in a lot of games. My expectation is that our drops problem will disappear this year with more consistent play from the QB as well.

Uhh ... while Trace isn't completely absolved of fault of course ... did you seem to miss the 2018 where our WRs had hands of stone? I know you mentioned it in the next unboldened sentence but if we even caught half of the passes last year that were dropped Trace would be probably somewhat close to 60%

I think some of the blame for drops lies with the QB as well. It’s hard for me to believe great QBs never seem to play with wideouts who frequently drop passes. Guys like Manning absolutely rifle the ball into their WRs and yet they seem to never drop it. Even receivers who were average players for other teams seem catch every ball Brady throws.

There has to be some correlation beteeen timing, touch, accuracy etc and throwing a “good ball.” And if you are going to give Trace credit for all their drops”, then what credit do his receivers deserve for catching some of his lame duck passes? Geiscki, Godwin, Barkley, Hamler etc all made unbelievable plays many barely 50/50 throws over the last three years.

I was over on the liar last summer when the captain was on-line and posting his typical BS (actively posting at that time). Another poster started a new thread asking others to take a guess on the captain's real identity and that poster guessed Ralph Cindrich.

That post lasted about 30 minutes and the captain hasn't posted since.

So, knowing that the captain had been on several trips in the past year I visited his twitter account and sure enough, some of the captains trips and Ralph Cindrich's trips matched up in that Ralph had several posts about being in the same place at the same time as the captain had reported on the liar.

Now, this isn't proof of anything necessarily, but if it was walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's probably...

Nardouche is on fire......President Stache declares "an amazing weekend....' as Pitt vaults to #12 in recruiting ranking (in the ACC) and #69 nationally. The Lair celebrates stealing a LB recruit from "the used car salesman." Oh, to be dumb and a Pitt Fan.

Does that #12 ranking include Notre Dame as an ACC team? If not, you should bump them back a spot.

Comparing average NFL receivers to our receiving corps last year isn't really fair. Some good plays were made by our receivers last year but there were a lot of routine drops that stopped drives. Now Trace was definitely different after the Ohio State game. He got beat to a pulp and never really recovered. The missed open receiver at Michigan, I think Thompkins, was a throw he rarely missed in his career. That throw makes it 14-7 and we have a game. He missed a lot of throws the second half of the season and never looked right. I have to think he lost a little confidence in the receivers at some point. With some of his previous receivers, he's throw it to a spot and was confident they'd make a play.

Narduzzi loves 5.5 low ranked 3stars. Pitt fans will talk themselves into being diamonds in the rough and getting a bump to 5.7 soon enough.

Not quite. I might be off a bit on the number but, 26 is sticking in my head as the number of drops we had last year. You would have to change all 26 drops to catches to get to 60% and, a 60% completion rate in 2018 would put the QB behind 68 other QBs with a better completion rate. Trace's 53% rate last year put him in 114th place.
