PSU guys in the Portal

Sucks. I thought Ryder would embrace the challenge. I just hope this doesn’t trickle down to Duke another KD guy

Ryder wasn't recruited over no matter what you claim. It just didn't happen.

The rest of your comment is fine, I'm just saying if you want to treat PSU as the enemy, fine, but I would expect it to go both ways at this point. But all's fair. You got to do what you got to do to try to win

But I'm not rooting for DT or OK State anymore, not that it matters. None of this - I hope he does good there p#$$ crap.

I'd say the gloves were off when Cael recruited Welsh, considering he didn't need him at all.

Maybe he wanted to go 174 all along. Maybe that's more in line with his goals. Hamiti is done. Cael is all about helping each reach the goals they set for themselves. I assume the best. Ryder is leaving on the best of terms. Hell, Cael could've even called DT with a heads up.

What is that based on?

I tend to lean toward Ryder too. But that's just my bias for PSU recruits.

Is that an eye test thing? Transitive property?
I feel the same way. I think Ryder is better but Ryder didn't necessarily believe Ryder was better. Isn't that the bottom line to this move. Cael is very communicative on these things, so his leaving is solely based on his thinking as to whether he could win a wrestleoff. This is his answer. No?

Somewhat similar to when Max Dean came to Penn State and Beard transferred. Beard even beat Max subsequently, but never won a Natty, and was beaten soundly twice by Barr this year.

You hate to lose a great prospect like Zach, but he may have been on his way to OSU already. Either way, life goes on and the dynasty continues.

Both are good wrestlers with both having a damn fine body of work. Who is better? We may not know until the end of next season. I would assume DT is in the mix for ZR's next stop.

Welsh said he talked to Ryder about it and I was left with the impression Ryder was part of the positive response he got from the guys he talked to.

Why would it? Cael and staff know what they are doing… name me a time when a guy left and came back to beat the Nits??? Suriano, sure but that was a mess to begin with. Cael plays chess. This was probably in the works and the Nits were shopping.

It doesn’t make sense Ryder would portal based solely on the Welch transfer.
Maybe Barr comes back down? Or maybe there’s other factors behind the scenes?

I don't understand how this would become a locker room wide problem. All these guys have to know that recruiting never stops, at any weight.

"Presumed starters" are few and far between. Just looking at the recent recruiting classes makes it clear that everyone is going to have beat out an AA level guy just to make the lineup.

I don't begrudge anyone who decides to move on. But that's their decision. I don't know how someone could leave angry from a situation they knew they were walking into.

If that were the case why didnt he leave last year? This is Welsh related.

I mean, we can say this til we’re blue in the face but these are also human beings. Also you commit to a school with a general idea of what the line will look like for 2-3 years.

I don’t think Ryder got screwed or anything, but I totally understand why he’d be annoyed and why it could potentially create some disharmony.

Simplest answer, Hamiti was at 174 @Ok St, assuming that's Ryder's destination, so one more year in the best room redshirting.

Before Rocco, he could have been more willing to go 184. And all this assumes Josh isn't deciding to drop to 184 so Connor can man 197.

You mean like Bubba Jenkins, or Michael Beard?

Or am I misunderstanding the question?
