PSU @ Nebraska: Dual meet thread.

Would have lost on RT anyway, I'm sure. His heavyweight formula of wrestling sucks.

thats not getting caught - its getting horsed. I appreciate MM's strategy and heart but he's a 184 (and not a "big" 84) - he's wrestling up so margin of error is super slim. Just saying assuming he's a lock for AA is optimistic.

I know you love to troll. I'm sure you probably think some of your points actually add something to this board. Obviously Matt is wrestling up. He is all we have right now. He has looked great until today. Your schtick is pointless and mind numbing.

That ref absolutely SUCKED! We saw a nice display of the Fanning school of stalling. Zain's kid should have stalled to disqualification and not one call that I remember.

Special call out to Cenzo, Bo, and Nevills.

We're in real trouble at 133 and 141. Hopefully Cortez can come back and be productive. Sorry to say but ready for the JG rein to be over.

Suriano good against good opponent but thought we'd see some TDs. Cutch - don't know what to say. Good kid but need Cassar in the lineup.

No schtick, my dude. Wish I were trolling.

I agree about the ref. He allowed zain's opponent to stall is way out of a TF. Tough win on the road. Nebraska has a very good team. They wrestled hard. I'd like to know how you can be a NC champ 5 of the last 6 years and the majority of your matches are on the road.

125 Good to see Suriano get off the bottom so quick this time.
133 Just hope Cortez gets back soon so we can see what points the team needs.
141 Frustrating. Was horsed and slower both. He showed fire when it was time to avoid the major... I was like, where you been?
149 You could see Zain jawing at the ref. He wasn't happy.
157 Nolf showed what we all knew, huge seperation.
165 Vincenzo has a nice arsenal. If he can either finish more of them or string some back to back he'll be a bonus machine.
174 Morelli seems like he has more offense in him, but keeps matches close.
184 Again.... seperation. He got a little Nolf nasty on the pushout once.
197 Agree with what was said here. Against Pfarr he just kept it close with a guy who also keeps it close. Today he was clearly trying to do the same and failed.
285 Nevills looked in trouble in the early scramble, and also was in a cradle at the end. Pretty slick athlete though.

Anywhere I can find individual TD ratios for each PSU guy? For the season, not the dual.

Matt hasn't wrestled anyone yet this year that is AA material until this weekend. He was never close to scoring against Pfarr and was pinned by Studebaker. All we are saying is that assuming he's a lock for AA is optimistic.

Suriano is top 3 unless he hits the freshman wall.

Not sure what to expect from Cortez.

Jimmy's opponent flat out worked him. Jimmy always looks small compared to his opponents. I'm sad to say I don't expect much come NCAA's

Zain will dominate

Nolf should dominate

Cenzo has looked solid. Need a top 8 from him.

Morelli has a chance to make top 8. I don't see any bonus points and quite frankly am concerned at this weight.

Bo is a top 3 guy. Hopefully in the finals.

Cutch gives up so much height, I'm concerned about how far he can go.

Neville continues to impress and he is on pace for a top 5 finish.

Is that enough to win it all?

Not sure I understand your question about scheduling. 9 Big Ten Duals each year, 5 home one year, 4 the next, 5 the next, 4 the next, etc., etc. until the model changes, which may mean when/if the conference goes to 10 duals. Same for all Big Ten teams.

Anywhere I can find individual TD ratios for each PSU guy? For the season, not the dual.

Those are provided in the Match Notes that I link each week. To be more accurate, the TDs for duals for each PSU guy are included in the Match Notes. I don't believe the TDs for and against from tournaments are included, so those from the Keystone Classic are not part of the numbers.

You literally never know which Gulibon will show up from day to day. I know this isn't news, but I guess the bottom line is no one can "expect" a certain amount of points from him at Nationals because NO ONE, not Cody, not Cael, not anyone, knows what he'll do on a given day. He could AA or he could lose first round and neither would be a surprise to me.

While I agree that BTN2GO has issues, the fact is that very little of the actual wrestling was missed. As to the audio, I highly recommend syncing JB's audio as others have suggested.

It is often nerve racking to watch the matches on BTN for fear of screw ups causing problems, it is still great to have a method to see virtually all of the matches. It's especially great for those of us who live in far away parts of the country or are unable to get into Rec Hall.

Lastly, because the matches are archived, you can still go back and watch the dual and still sync JB!

I was not one of the guys who called him a sure AA.

One thing Cody (after the match) said about Suriano is so true...here's a true freshman, wrestling in his first Big Ten weekend away matches, against two top-10 opponents in hostile environments...and WINS! Think about that for a second.

EXPECT NOTHING

Zain will dominate
DOMINATE #1

Nolf should dominate DOMINATE #1

Cenzo has looked solid. Need a top 8 from him.

SHOULD BE SOLID AA

Morelli has a chance to make top 8. I don't see any bonus points and quite frankly am concerned at this weight.

GOOD WRESTLER BUT NO REAL OFFENSE - AA?

Bo is a top 3 guy. Hopefully in the finals.
SHOULD BE 1 OR 2 - UNLESS CARELESS MISTAKE LIKE LAST YEAR

Cutch gives up so much height, I'm concerned about how far he can go. TOO SHORT EVEN THOUGH VERY STRONG LIMITED, IF ANY OFFENSE. VERY DISPOINTED IN BEING SPLIT TODAY - JR HIGH MISTAKE

Neville continues to impress and he is on pace for a top 5 finish.
WE HAVE A HWT! GETS A LITTLE OUT OF POSITION BUT ATHLETIC ENOUGH TO MAKE IT WORK SHOULD BE SOLID AA

Is that enough to win it all?
NOT SURE....MAYBE ENOUGH ATTRITION WITH OTHER TEAMS TO GIVE US ADVANTAGE

Re. Cortez...
Shoulder, really close to returning. The coaches took him on the trip to Minny/Nebraska.

It will be very, very close. Cenzo certainly has the talent to be top 8, but that division is stacked and anything could happen. Cutch is a gamer, but by no means a sure thing to AA at that weight. Really love Suriano and Nevills to finish top 2 and top 5. Don't see AA at 174. Again, it will be very, very close.

I don't know what to say about JG. He was beating Clark a few years ago and now the hope is that he doesn't get majored while Clark is the favorite for a NC. I would love to see him turn it around in
the second half of the season. I don't know if he could make 133 again but if Cortez can't go,
he at 133 and Moss at 141 is our best bet for the rest of the year.

Tom, REALLY appreciate your match summaries. Thanks so much!

The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

Some of you guys crack me up. Too spoiled by Taylor, Ruth, Zain, Nolf, Bo ... many mid to low AA's lose 5-10 matches during the season. Cortez, Guilibon, Moreli/Rasheed, Cutch will all probably lose this many but will have a shot at making some noise in March. They will definitely not all place but bet 1-2 of them do.

Not worried.

We've been saying bonus points will carry us to NC. But today we only outscored Neb in bonus 6-5.

I KNOW - ONE THAT ISN'T GOING TO CONTRIBUTE TO TEAM POINTS AT NCAA'S - HE'S FINISHED AS MUCH AS IT PAINS ME TO SAY.

Really have to give high grades to Suriano, Joseph & Nevills.

Joseph & Nevills dominated. Anyone who suggested gas tank issues for Cenzo looks pretty dumb.

True freshman Suriano is 10-0, and now beaten four different Top 5 (at the time) opponents - two in hostile arenas - and never was behind or lost control of any match.

Think about that for a second. Almost all true freshmen have slip ups here and there.

I wish Jimmy would get his shit together. 5th year senior, now on the backslope of his last season. You're not supposed to get trucked by freshmen ranked in the teens.

In the NCAA tournament, those guys keeping close and stalling evaporate. They open up to try and win because losing sends you packing. Trying to hold close in a dual still means a loss but the team score is closer. Score an upset somewhere and the team might win.

Berger and Walking Stick will not be that close at NCAA.

Lol. just went on twitter and saw a tweet from Pat Downey ISU's 184. Cpyles tweeted that Dudley/Nickal would be best non Dean threat to 184 title and Downey tweeted back that they're both bums! Lol

I knew he had a hard on for the Iowa guys now he calling Bo a bum?

Kid is nuts

Exactly.

Which is also the primary reason why National Duals Championship is an awful idea.

The point system rewards below average wrestlers to turtle up for the sake of point prevention -- whereas NCAA tourney encourages excellent wrestlers to score as many points as possible.

Which format is better to watch & compete ? Obvious answer.

Would have lost on RT anyway, I'm sure. His heavyweight formula of wrestling sucks.

I get your point, and don't really disagree. However, the heavyweight formula approach offers the best chance of success for Cutch against any quality opponent. He needs to somehow get a TD and win a 3-2 type of match. It's not exciting and provides a razor thin margin of error, but provides the best chance of success in a non-ideal situation.

That should get everyone to pump the brakes on "MM being lock for top 5"

Careful. Statements like that will be unpopular and thus are discouraged on this board. You may be reprimanded.

Nice match.
It looked rather obvious they drilled hard yesterday.
Nebraska competed well
Nevills is becoming brutal
Every year it is the same thing. Oh my God, how can we possibly win the championship without this or maybe with that.
Last year we needed NN to guarantee a victory. It was won b4 Saturday and NN was not ready last year.
Anybody want to wager something simple (open to offers) I wager if Morelli or Rasheed man the 174 weight class 4 the post season the Lions win the team title.
