First I just want to say I love PSU and bleed blue and white and want all the sports teams and the whole university to do well in everything from academics to partying. But I do not understand the huge deal that is being made about the mens and even for that womens b-ball teams. While the women used to be very good and have declined a bit, the mens team has never been a real powerhouse program. The answer is simple, PSU is not a basketball school, it never was and it will never be. I am not delusional enough to believe that. Look at the usual Basketball schools, Duke, UNC, Kentucky, Arizona, UCLA, etc etc with few exceptions they are primarily basketball schools. Sure there are seasons when the football team plays well and contends, but PSU basketball has has those seasons as well, they beat UNC before and won the NIT. I just do not understand the need for BBall to be such a big topic of disappointment here in the den. I do not open and read the threads but by the number of times they pop up it becomes annoying. Take it over to the Basketball board. Just an honest observation and im sure this will do nothing to deter it, but at least its out there on the table.
