Snyder incident

Is Kyle back wrestling yet? He should be. How about these cops get pedo’s off the streets instead of consenting adults. Plenty of real crime out there instead of these sting operations among adults. Heard they even solicited Snyder. (Removed)

I want to see all the details on this one.

I don't know if Kyle has an issue with addiction or not, and it's none of my business. I do know this, this has nothing to do with sex trafficking.

I spent 20 years researching cartels, including human trafficking for professors. This is not that and shouldn't be conflated with it. I wish Kyle the best for him and his family. Kyle is a man, a Christian man who fked up. Not unlike millions of other men. Those coming after his Christianity like PD did make me want to vomit.

This thread back up?

Say what you want about this whole thing. But Snyder's tweet was absolutely tone-deaf.

And the bible verse he picked is specifically about Christians who are being persecuted... BRO!
Lmao. First he was federally trafficking, and now he should burn at the stake for the bible verse he picked. You sure are taking this awfully personal. You're starting to sound like a certain mod on the Iowa board. Are you like personally offended?

Clearly, neither of us are theologians, but the verse he cited isn't about Christians being persecuted, it's about Christians facing "God's judgment." It's self-reflective.

That was awful. Sonnen used a lot of words to say that Snyder's bad behavior should be ignored because of his athletic achievement.

Sorry Chael, that mentality is how we get the DeShaun Watsons of the world. Grow up.

Not saying Snyder is remotely near Watson, or that Snyder should be canceled or anything like that. He made a mistake. Hopefully it's his last. Hopefully in a few years it'll be largely forgotten, because he will have straightened himself out with no repeats. But it shouldn't be ignored or excused. That's part of accountability.
Thank you for this public service.

Sonnen is one of those annoyances I always feel terrible about being even remotely curious about, so it's super helpful for me to read a respected take-giver give me the take that Sonnen's was another trash Sonnen take.

Fair enough. But still. I'd think an apology wouldn't be this hard.

I mean. yeah. Not that i think he should burn at the stake or kicked out of the sport. But dude did commit a crime. A little accountability ain't too much to ask. As a fan, we're a large part of why he's able to play a sport for a living. No different than how'd I feel about any other athlete.

consequences for trying to get an over 18 yr old prostitute doesn't mean you should be kicked off wrestling teams . he has to deal with his family and probably misdemeanor charges. thats enough of it.

Not our decision to say. I personally don't think he gets kicked out of NLWC, I do think that he might lose some sponsorships and the most important thing is he will have to navigate the effects on his family.

I agree but also disagree..
These dudes are held to a higher standard, they know this...
It's sort of funny though, I'm sure there are some on forums, twitter etc... that are hammering Kyle and have done the same thing or worse.

According to the PSU directory, he is listed as an employee.

Title: Wrestling Sport Camps Specialist
Business Area: Intercollegiate Athletics

As an employee, he is subject to HR-99 Background Verification Requirements, including the "Self-Disclosure Requirements for the Individual."

Individuals (whether paid or unpaid) are required to notify Human Resources of arrests or convictions within 72 hours of occurrence by using the Penn State Arrest and Conviction Self-Disclosure Form. An employee or affiliate who has taken a leave of absence from the University for a consecutive period of 6 months or greater must submit the form prior to returning to work.

Failure to report any arrest or conviction may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination. Employees of consulting companies and/or contractors are expected to inform their employers, who will review the situation with Penn State Human Resources, Labor and Employee Relations.

Penn State Human Resources, Labor and Employee Relations, will review the self-disclosure form and determine if the arrest and/or conviction is pertinent to the employee's ability to carry out the duties or functions of their position. If job relatedness is determined, the employee's department will be notified of the arrest and/or conviction, and appropriate action will be taken, including the possibility of employee discipline, up to and including termination.

Even if was not a PSU employee, he would probably still be considered to be an "Affiliate" as a resident member of the NLWC.

Any employee or affiliate with a position that involves contact with children are subject to even more scrutiny. Both the PSU wrestling camps and the NLWC by virtue of being an RTC fall under this. I would think that USA wrestling would also be interested as well.

I would think that he will not be allowed on campus until this is resolved, and given the most likely resolution, not be allowed to continue as a member of the NLWC as long as they want to continue to allow qualified high schoolers to train there.

I think most people are underestimating the gravity of the situation here. Long term careers in wrestling are either coaching or running camps/clubs. Any criminal offence of a sexual nature would, and should, prevent employment in either avenue. I think his chances of a wrestling related career after he stops competing are very slim.

Lots of mixed emotions about this one for me. I tend to agree with those that think he'll have to make amends to his family, and he'll suffer the shame of this for the rest of his life. Unless he's a total dumb arse, he will learn LOTS of lessons from this. I don't make the decision whether he remains with NLWC or not and frankly, my feelings won't be hurt either way. If those who make these decisions decide that he has the right attitude and has done what was required to remain, then fine. If they decide that this is too much of a black eye for the organization and they cut ties, I'd be fine with that too. I guess the good thing from his perspective is that he's not at the beginning of his international career and there would be little harm or shame in calling it quits now and doing what's necessary to fix the damage that he's done to his personal relationships and moving on to the next phase of life, whatever that is.

I do
Flawed point since many of the sex workers were trafficked. They are kidnapped, rapped, drugged and sold.
It seems you are forgetting the multi billion dollar porn industry exists. Go to twitter, reddit, Instagram, chaturbate, porn hub, only fans, chinese rub and tugs, etc, etc......

Show me the facts on your "many" are trafficked.

Yes "many" want to make an easy dollar.

If more details come out that he was in line to receive a trafficked person, then I stand corrected.

Until then it's just a horny guy looking to get easy a**, he just took the easy "pay your way" instead of working for it, which makes sense since he's married and has more money than most of us.

This was a non crime created by the local police. He still did wrong, but a sting operation isn't about human trafficking when there is no trafficked humans or any kind of illegal brothel involved.

And surely Kyle made certain the girl he was meeting was never trafficked before making the meeting arrangements, right?

Seriously, you REALLY think these johns give a shit where their fix is coming from?

Trafficking and prostitution go hand in hand whether you believe it or not.

JFC, this was a sting that will do nothing to stop trafficking .

I know most normies have figured out humans get trafficked but not all prostitution is trafficking.

These back page escort adds aren’t the serious stuff that is run by various dangerous people.

I hope that tikk10 chimes in here and corrects me if I am wrong, but at this point, Snyder has only been arrested and possibly charged with soliciting or whatever they want to call it. You can be sure that Snyder will get good legal representation, so where this actually goes in court could be entirely different. To the best of my knowledge, he's never been charged with anything prior to this episode and he IS an Olympic gold medalist. I'm betting that a good defense lawyer can work out a deal with the DA where they plead guilty to something that won't ruin his future opportunities. Yes - he will still have some reputation issues to repair, but there won't be a legal ruling that will interfere with his future.

He's accountable to his family. He tried to pay for sex. Big woop. That's happened since the dawn of time. It doesn't affect me. He's paying a heavy price. He owes no one here an apology, and he sure as hell doesn't have to make any apology public.

Any legal ruling, plea deal, conviction, etc. will still be tied to a sex crime. This isn't a traffic ticket. Coaching at the college level, RTC, or even running your own wrestling club involves minors. Good luck with that.

More importantly, PSU's policy allows for termination of both employees (his official wrestling camp job) and affiliates (NLWC) after being arrested, not conviction. Both his PSU job, and position with the NLWC involves working with minors on campus.

I know most normies [...]
I heard about one normie who reasoned that people who hear about Snyder, including Snyder himself, will think harder before soliciting, thereby reducing demand for sex workers, thereby doing "something" to stop some trafficking .

But maybe that normie is wrong and the laws of supply and demand cease to exist over your keyboard? ;)

Maybe Snyder should've attended Cornell instead of Ohio State.

There has been zero indication of Snyder soliciting a minor. That detail would've been splashed across the news by now.

Perhaps his job is at risk, but the most likely outcome is a plea deal, followed by a Safe Sport ruling that he's not a threat to abuse others. At which point the Univeraity's only basis for firing him would be publicity.

His legal hearing is 5/19, and given PSU's glacial decision making, he'll still be employed then. Unless Cael decides otherwise.

I never said that he solicited a minor. However, it is still a sex crime and will affect his ability to get a legit job working with minors.

I don't have any issue with his tweet. He said he was focusing on his family and faith - that IS where he needs to be accountable. Maybe to his employer as well, but that's probably secondary to him at this point.

I also don't have any issue with fans busting on him for the act and for getting caught. He's a public figure, and that comes with the territory. And for some who truly feel the moral outrage, have at it; he deserves it. I don't feel the moral outrage over this, as compared with some other public situations that wrestlers have found themselves in the recent past, like sexual assault allegations, battery, etc, but I get that some do. I'll be happy to throw in with some future Kyle Snyder wisecracks, though. He deserves that too.

But owing an apology to anyone except the people he referred to in the tweet. Nah. I think you're barking up the wrong tree.

And you think this will affect serious cases of human trafficking? Child exploitation? It won't make a dent.

Cornell's beef was a civil case, not criminal. (Unless the Cornell coaches were considering assault charges against Zain for being too rough on their guy!) However, Alan Dershowitz might be interested!

If this happened in PA, he'd get into a diversionary program for first time offenders that ultimately gets expunged from his record as long as he stays out of trouble. I'm sure Ohio has a similar type program.

It’s a big world. Almost anything anybody does will not make a big dent. If I steal something from Costco, it won’t make a big dent either. If one highway patrolman gives out one speeding ticket. It also won’t make a big dent. And yet speeding tickets in the aggregate do make a big dent in the amount of speeding.

The “it won’t make a big dent” argument applied to any single act is inane.

I won’t be replying anymore to this thread. I only made a post to make fun of grandiose opinions, literally false, stated categorically: “… will do nothing …” 🙄

Oh the days of the Old West where brothels were the norm, and the city streets were full of ladies who came a calling.

We are so morally superior now. Thank God, every time I'm on Instagram, I'm getting hookup advertisements at the bottom. Of course, they say they're "free." Lol
