So Iowa throws out...

Not that it matters. But it amazes me Spencer doesn’t get more pins. He ragdolled that kid, I’m sure he could have gotten it even if it took another minute. I guess he just doesn’t care that much about it, but it may cost him a Hodge if Zahid keeps his bonus/falls up.

Tough to pin with a tilt. But dear lord is he a hammer on top

Spencer works the tilt series better than anyone out there. That will get you a lot of tech falls, but not pins. He is capable of pinning just about anyone though.

Yeah. He is a beast with that tilt. But you would think he would hit two four count tilts and then try something else for a pin for a minute or two.

Now that was a great match. Sasso with some insane scrambles. Tip of the cap to Lugo, though, he wrestled tough.

The real news of this match is: Iowa got a team deduction for mat area control. At home.

We are so fortunate to have the guys in the corner that we do. The antics in that black and whatever corner are so obnoxious!

OSU must have a bunch of redshirts or a big class coming in next year. Am I correct?

He actually struggles to finish people when he stacks them with his bar-half too. It's weird. That's a quick finish for everybody else. I'm wondering if it's almost too tight and their shoulders can't get all the way to the mat.

Fire up the Sasso Hype Train.
I posted 2 years ago how I would take Sasso over Teasdale if I had to pick one PA kid . I got beat up for it. Actually I had numerous people say they would take Verk over Sasso.
I think a few of you found satisfaction when Sammy got decked early this year. Sasso is very simaler to Nolf at this stage of his career. Not as good offensively, but tougher to score on.
I wish PSU had him.

Tanshirting this year:
125/133 - Koontz, Jacob Decatur
141 - D'Emilio
149 - Echemendia
165 - Kharchla
285 - Kerk
Plus Singletary is out for the year with injury. He only wrestled 3 matches, so he probably could get a medical tanshirt if he wants it.

Incoming HS Class of 2020:
149 - Hepner

2021:
174 - Gallagher

2022:
197 - Shumate

A lot of people wish Sasso had his off the mat act together a couple years earlier than he did.

But even if he did, that doesn't necessarily change his recruiting result.

Decatur must be French.....'cause he surrendered pretty quickly. Moore settled for the decision. Pletcher is tough. Sasso lost that match 3 times......until you watched the replay. He actually did survive every time. Winning without a TD is usually pretty boring but that was an exciting match.

Yeah, he wasn’t struggling with Pat Lugo
Looking back at the record -- how Jason did as a RS FR against returning AAs and guys who placed that year:
4-1 over Brascetta (2nd match of the year)
18-7 and TF 5:19 over Walsh
F 2:50 over Minotti
7-3 and 11-3 over Smith
TF 6:14 over Murphy

And for good measure, he teched Berger too.

That has been the mantra since he committed to Ohio State. But the argument is not valid when you realize that Gavin had his own demons his senior year of recruitment. A District 11 coach told me he was shocked PSU recruited Teasdale by some of the stories that were known by the wrestling community his last year at Jefferson Morgan.
Sasso's problem were prior to his Senior year.
A footnote: I believe I saw Sammy received Academic Honors last year.
