Totally agree!

Stoppages: RBY-DeSanto

You CANNOT keep stopping when a kid screams out while going to his back. Can't do it. No one's gonna die. That's robbing not only the athlete, but the fans and the sport in general. That they did it once was ridiculous. That they did it twice is unconscionable.

And to piggyback on that, how on God's Green Earth did RBY get ZERO points on the first one. It very obviously was a takedown and therefore should have gotten points for imminent nearfall (exactly as the rulebook reads). RBY didn't get 2 points. He didn't get 2 points and a chance on top. He didn't get 2 takedown and 2 nearfall. He got choice. That's it. And that's horrible.

I was wondering if the rule had been changed. Iirc, if there is a stoppage in that situation, the offensive wrestler should get 2 plus 2. If it stopped when exposure had already started, it should be 2 plus 4.

It was at CHA. Same for stalling...our guys were getting hit with stalling once they entered CHA. It was that obvious.

But the quick whistle was the undoing. No injury time, match is over. What's the big deal in the end? Andrew Spey isn't going to count it in his ranking. Here's what I say.

Let’s be honest. We all are pretty lusty when it comes to stalling at our house. And by “all” I mean home fans in every venue. I really haven’t been anywhere that isn’t. When you stir up 15000 people it just feels worse.

then again, Iowa sees it so much they probably recognize it better. ;)

For sure. The referee's trigger finger just seems a bit quicker at CHA as opposed to other home venues.

I wouldn't usually broach this but damn, I've watched a lot of wrestling this year and I haven't seen calls that fast and that often as I did the other night. I even called the one out on Alex which was ridiculous.

Wearing the iconic singlet is an automatic warning at Carver. I'm always amazed at how referees allow themselves to be intimidated like that in Iowa City. Shameful.

RBY's stall call was especially egregious. If you watch the replay, you can see the ref start his count early. He calls "one" as soon as Desanto is returned, skipping the first full second.

Not to pick on the ref's, but for consistency sake, watch the White match (neb/osu) and tell me how often he should have been hit with stalling calls.

Absolutely. Not a 5 count, on either end. RBY also worked up before 5. I chalked that one up to CHA.

Respectfully disagree. The stalling call is immortalized in a statue outside, for Pete’s sake. It is worse in CHA.
