The Ferrari Family Circus

I think Iowa is all in on Spencer taking over for Brands after 2029. Maybe their new AD will decide to go another path but pretty obvious that is the plan right now. I know her firing Brian Ferentz midseason (when she could have let it play out and used the 25 PPG contract clause at the end) showed signs she was willing to not appease tenured and respected coaches there so maybe she does it with wrestling as well.

She seems very intelligent, if anything like people mentioned the biggest thing that'll hurt PSU is if she decides to take a deeper look into Iowa wrestlings built in advantages and make an outside the box decision like I don't know, maybe bring in new blood as coaches that jumpstart the program.

Rumors that some recruits may be looking around after that debacle
I don't know about losing recruits but Jacob Warner's dad has liked multiple tweets on Twitter saying kick Ferrari off the team. Drake Ayala's dad commented "I hope so" on FB somewhere when someone asked "Is this the last we have seen of the Ferraris in Iowa City"

Haven't seen this posted, so sorry if it has been. Full match, plus post-match antics, in all their glory, from a different angle than I'd seen this far.
Thanks. I had to watch this 4 times. On the fourth attempt....after downing 3 Mountain Dew.....I was able to stay awake for the entire match. Riveting. Now I gotta pee....and probably throw up.

Iowan's are thinking the 197 finals match was good. I agree with you, more excitement in a elementary wrestling match.

The Ferraris are all in all very unimpressive not worth the hype at all.

Agreed, overall point is coaches are hired to be fired and colleges absorb the extra money all the time.
If it is a money issue then the Brands only need to keep the slumlord happy. Considering he is providing the bags to the Focuses, he probably is still in T&Ts corner.

There was I guy I trust that wrote that Kem couldn't get away from Iowa fast enough after his career was done.

I know the guy posts here, so I will leave it up to him to verify.
Couldn't get away from Iowa quick enough or couldn't get away from the T&T quick enough?

Once the Brands boys are gone, there will be pressure for the next coach to have ties to Iowa. Good luck finding someone with ties to Iowa that understand how to run a modern wrestling program.
Thomas Gilman may have learned a few things, or is he now considered tainted?

Ferrari should've lost when he blatantly backed out of bounds in SV. That's stalling by rule, and he already had 2 stall calls against him.

One can only wonder how he would've reacted to losing on an OT stall call.

Also, the refs let Ferrari get away with lots of (cough cough) "recovery" tactics between whistles. Adjust his equipment, switch sides on top before the start, wander around the mat, etc. Hilarious that he strayed toward his corner before the start of OT, and the alternate ref pushed him in the back to tell him to return to center.

Dresser, Ryan, Schwab, and Steiner don't? Former Iowa assistant J Rob doesn't?

Metcalf doesn't, having worked for Dresser? Ramos doesn't, having worked for Scott and Koll?

Whether any of them would be interested is a different story.

Yeah, what’s getting a little lost in all of the embarrassing antics at the end is that AJ looked really bad in the match. Glazier is a warrior giving it his all with his chance to start, but he’s closer to a room guy than an AA. If AJ wants to compete for a championship, he needs to eat guys like that for lunch, not eek it out in SV. Combined with the fact that Fredo lost to their third stringer, and there really isn’t any reason to take the risk on them. When goofballs like IRONY predicted that Fredo and the rapist would close the gap to PSU, I said the impact of them on the dual would be that Brooks would only score 4 instead of 5. I’m not even sure that’s true any more.

I agree with you. I said the same, is it worth 4 or 5 points at Nationals or 1 or 2 points in the duel to risk tearing your locker room apart? Perception of your program and university plus maybe losing existing wrestlers and better recruits.

AJ at this point isn't much of an upgrade at 197. It is possible that in 3 months, he more than likely will place slightly higher Glazer would.

Anthony isn't the best 149 on the team. #Risk>Reward

I can't get all serious at this point - I still laugh hysterically every time I watch that video after the arm raising. Just laugh hysterically and I've watched it double-digit times. It's gold Jerry, gold!! - had my wife almost in tears laughing and she only watched it once.

AJ didn’t take either stall call against him well at all. Refused to continue wrestling for a short bit after the second stall call.

Not surprising. Since they started flirting with the circus, they’ve already lost Jesuroga and Chittum, the latter directly because of the circus. Gabe seems to have chosen to assimilate into the circus, though. We’ll see if Kueter chooses to wrestle at all now.
Pretty sure the Jesuroga situation was completely unrelated to the Ferrari clan circus.

And I doubt the circus would have much impact on Kueter, who is already at Iowa and whose weight class appears unaffected. The bigger question about Kueter is unchanged - how effective will he be wrestling 3 months (Jan thru March) each year with the other 9 months dedicated to college football? And obviously, the possible financial incentives of having an NFL career (even brief) are hard to ignore.

How would anyone want him on your team
I know, right? It seems incomprehensible that anyone (including Brands and even Bob Nichols) would want AJ on the team. If that means losing Angelo (elite recruit, but still only one recruit), so be it.

Let's just hope a ~$1 mil/yr carrot doesn't attract DT. This may be his last Olympic cycle and the Ferrari fuse could last a year or two. TnT are signed through 2029 so it will take a scandal to take them out. I know David would prefer to follow Cael but serious money talks. Hopefully they look to Spencer for the next phase, but I could see Askren go for it.
Running a highly successful M2 in PA has to be way less stressful than walking into that mess.

The only time they will meet is the dual I don't see them on the same side of the bracket in March and AJ won't see the finals
You don't think Ferrari could be the 4 or 5 (or 8?) seed at B10s?

And once they get to NCAAs, half of the field will be on Aaron's side. It's impossible to say today which half Ferrari would be on. He won't be the 2 or 3 seed (that will be Hidlay + either the B12 champ or maybe Cardenas). After that, anyone's guess.
