Call it whatever you want. When you go there, you got nothing. If it was up to me that would get the ban hammer on this board no matter where you posted it, Mr. Passive Aggressive. Thank you for your service.

Being too hard on Turk. Ya gotta undersrand, any thread that johnstownsteel (Giapet) posts in is going to cause Turk to say or do some crazy shit. I should take a page out of Birds playbook and have Turk call me SIR because I own him.

I liked this nugget from GIA:

“I’m the only other person who isn’t jumping on the destroy the Ferrari’s bandwagon. The only thing a Ferrari did today that was embarrassing and out of line was AJ flipping off the ugly crowd. He didn’t flip off TnT or blow kisses at them, and certainly didn’t smash Glaziers face into the mat, just a little push, like Rathjen did to his brother after beating him. Glaziers face didn’t get closer than 4 feet from the mat. At first I thought Rathjen and Glazier were being little bitches trying to start something with Ferrari’s, but then I realized they were just geniuses. Best way to keep you positions is to start something, knowing fans will be behind our beloved room guys, and basically run the whole family out of town for good. I understand there were many fans of other teams hating on Ferrari’s, but most of our fans jumped in also. Felt bad for Angelo. He was just in the tunnel watching his brothers, and the entire arena of fans he thinks he wants to wrestle for were booing his brothers off the mat like they just killed someone. I was waiting for objects to be thrown at them. We went right by his family trying to escape this ugly crowd and you talk about awkward. The whole family and friends from Texas were there, and they looked very anxious, almost scared. They must be thinking with “fans” like this, who needs enemies. I thought Anthony was fine. He gave the same weak shove back to Rathjen, then stood there for the handshake while Rathjen flexed in his face instead of handshake, ran around beating his chest, finally came back and Anthony gave him a genuine good handshake, then slowly walked off while our fan’s mercilessly booed the shit out of him. And this is a guy who will be officially on our team soon . Glad he was able to take the shit treatment by our fans better than AJ, but all are likely gone, and I can’t blame them. Thought AJ participating in this to knock the rust off was good idea, but didn’t think the fans and Iowa wrestlers they faced would use this weekend to make the whole family feel like very hated outcasts. No wonder we lose so many blue chip recruits. ****ing embarrassing.”
Lol

Let’s see….Mesenbrink, coming from Cal Baptist…..wouldn’t sniff Iowa BEACUSE of TnT’s tolerance of crap like this. Iowa isn’t losing recruits because of how the fans treated AJ, it’s because of how the team is perceived. Of the leadership allowing the nonsense.

They come to places like PSU and OSU because they want to win AND match personal growth goals. If you want to be Patrick Downey and AJ Ferrari…:go to Iowa

Dresser, Ryan, Schwab, and Steiner don't? Former Iowa assistant J Rob doesn't?

Metcalf doesn't, having worked for Dresser? Ramos doesn't, having worked for Scott and Koll?

Whether any of them would be interested is a different story.
I always love the response people have whenever you discuss removing a coach in any sport:

Who you going to get? Implying there is no one better, or good enough, or….
It always ignores there IS someone or by now everyone would suck.

For all the “trust TnT” Iowa fans… the problem is that you can’t rehabilitate someone that doesn’t think they’ve done anything wrong.

I saw a few GIA posts trying to compare AJ to DeSanto. First, there is no comparison regarding their behavior. Second, DeSanto acknowledged and apologized for his mistakes, sought help, and wanted to change.

AJ doesn’t think he’s done anything wrong and doesn’t want to change. At least, that’s what I think I see.
A total lack of conscience. He doesn't think it's wrong. Psychopaths have the same quality.

Correct. The next Cael is out there waiting for his chance. Iowa would be a statement gig for a lot of young coaches. The blueprint is out there for all to see. Tons of data to go by. We shall see if someone will take a chance on the recent influx of young assistants hitting the mats. I think it will be someone that was associated with PSU or the NLWC at one time. They saw the blueprint up close.

Iowa definitely has the potential to be clearly the second best coaching gig in college wrestling. The new coach would have to have assurances that they will clean house of Fredo and the rapist (and just keep Angelo if he behaves and is OK being the only member of his family in Iowa City) and minimize the influence of Slumlord Millionaire on the personnel and recruiting, but those are very reasonable requests for a program going in a new direction (especially since their AD seems like a no nonsense kind of woman), and if they can meet those conditions, there is no one outside of Cael himself with NCAA coaching aspirations who wouldn't take the position.

OTOH, if they refuse have the clowns take the circus to the next town, then they'll have an issue finding a credible coach.

Screenshots have been saved for the inevitable blowup. Surprised that some solid dudes like Tarp support bringing in AJ

Hopefully it won't be Ed Ruth

GIA poll is interesting. I’d like to see a poll of the hawk wrestlers. Maybe a poll of the women on campus where they could also rate how funny bigbucksbob’s ski lodge jokes are.
Sounds like at least the parents of Warner and Ayala aren’t thrilled. Warner’s dad is a pretty solid guy from what I’ve seen.

I doubt anyone on our staff have aspirations of taking the position.

I was thinking hopefully it won't be David Taylor. Not sure Ed has proven enough in the coaching ranks to be someone who could run a major program.

By next year the metric will have changed on major program, imo

If you are recruiting a 125lber for your school do you call Deluca and ask him he signed any paper work yet?

Well, sure, but the fans are the worst judges of this. Everybody wants to fire their coach and hire Urban Meyer. No other coach is good enough.

Which isn't all that different from going all in on the Ferrraris.

Not me. I'd go all in. Hire Urban as coach. AJ as harassment prevention coordinator. Vodka as compliance specialist. Terry Brands as sports psychologist. Ironbird as public relations specialist.

This assumes Iowa would hire an up-and-coming young coach. Which seems unlikely.

Especially unlikely for any external candidates with no head coaching experience.

Can't think of the last time a power program hired an external assistant as a first-time head coach.
