*** EDITED WITH CORRECTED TIMES ***

@Str8DBLz posted this on the social media thread, but thought it should have its own.

If you're cherry-picking for PSU guys Berge and Nickal, their competition times translated to State College time are:

Tue 10/29
  • 5:30am EDT – Qualification rounds (MFS 61 kg, 74 kg, 86 kg, 92 kg, 125 kg)
  • 12:15pm EDT - Semifinals (MFS 61 kg, 74 kg, 86 kg, 92 kg, 125 kg)
Wed 10/30
  • 5:30am EDT - Repechage (MFS 61 kg, 74 kg, 86 kg, 92 kg, 125 kg)
  • 1:00pm EDT - Finals (MFS 61 kg, 74 kg, 86 kg, 92 kg, 125 kg)

I believe only Trackwrestling will offer paid streaming ($30 for this tourney, $50 for the UWW season) to the action, as well as brackets, etc. Unless you can watch for free from an international IP address on UWW's website, with archives usually appearing about 24 hours later on their youtube channel.

i was also thinking that it might have been a good idea to start a "who's red shirting" thread a while back. It probably would have been much easier to keep track of rather than dissecting the last 40 pages of the 109 in that social media thread

It's all good. That thread is good for things that are most likely to get just "likes." I figure folks can discuss brackets and/or do PBP, match reactions, etc, here.

not sure if this is an optical illusion or what but Berge is looking big here even his traps make it look like he found a weight room

I recall someone recently posting that Cael told Beard he has the talent to be a 4xer. Was that just board banter or do we have a real quote/interview or reliable source for that one?

Safe to assume Beard has heard that out of Cael's mouth more than a few times.

Several guys have that as an “ambition”. As tough as that is, nothing wrong with lofty goals.

Singletary sees a 3-time medalist from Belarus in the first round, loses 6-16.

Eierman loses an insane battle with a Kyrgi 13-13 (or maybe 15-13?). Was losing 8-2 with a minute left. Was winning 13-12 with 11 seconds left.

McBryde lost his quarter 4-2, but was pressing late and looked to have a shot.

Fascinating backstory on him that i'd never heard or read. He was home-schooled and enrolled at Buffalo when he was only 16 already with a handful of community college credits. Wrestled mostly 174 in college, and only in his senior year (he was then 20) did he come close to getting to the NCAAs, but fell short. He went 42-49 over his four years. Definitely not the sort of resume you see of guys making it to where he's made it. Only 22 now.

Not a great draw for either guy--Berge has seen this Russian before--can be a measuring stick on his progress . . .

Here is Shahbazigazvaz's gold medal run in 2016:

The experts told us folk training like spladles inhibits freestyle.

Eierman is the exception and not the rule in 99% of instances.

Honestly, I saw the name and wondered who the hell the guy was when reading press releases. I don't normally do that with any world teamer. Good for him. Thanks for the backstory, though.
