U23s Thread

Kinda weird how Flo is completely ignoring U23s. They obviously don't have video rights--but that didn't stop them from covering Jr's and Sr's. I mean--to the US, this is probably the least important of the age group tourneys--but it still seems weird.

Kind of makes sense to me. Track is a competitor, not going to advertise while the event is going on to give them traction.

I'm sure Flo will recap once completed

It's a new tourny, less tradition or "gravitas", but yeah I agree, I am surprised since Pyles is such a huge international USA guy.

Cuban 92 looks pretty good! Zubairov and the Russian will complete a pretty loaded semifinal field

at 74Kg, the Georgian blanked Suleymanov 10-0. Berge needs the Russian to beat him to get pulled back in.

seems like they're in their college season opener push. that plus most of these guys probably aren't really USA's best at that age level and i can see why flo isn't putting too much coverage on it. i agree it is weird that there's absolutely nothing..

I made this comment before regarding Flo. I think they do a disservice when they don't try and cover 'all' wrestling events. They don't have to be there or even stream it - but should pass info along so they could gain the 'one stop' venue they want to be. Looking like ESPN advertising their basketball and hesitate to cover a lot of other sports.

Kerkvliet with two blast doubles for 4 apiece, then locks up a cradle from par terre for two more to get the tech, 13-2. Would've gotten a pin if he hadn't teched, it appeared. EDIT--he may have been given the fall, I'm seeing on Twitter.

I haven't seen any of it, but that seems like a very impressive effort from a young guy in Kerkvliet. Wow.

Weird rooting for a Russian, but Zhamalov is up on A--he wins, and Berge is in.
  • 5:00 Passivity Zhamalov
  • 4:16 on the clock
  • 3:42 T2 Georgia 0-2
  • 3:05 E2 Georgia, 0-4
End of 1st
  • 2:00 Step out 0-5
  • 1:40 Zhamalov gets behind and launches for 5! 5-5
  • 1:03 T2 Georgia 5-7
  • 0:43 E2 Zhamalov 7-7
  • Then he laces him up 15-7
Brady is pulled into repechage!

Great match!

Bo O'clock
  • 5:22 attention on Zubairov for hands to face
  • 4:44 Passivity on Zubairov
  • 4:29 Step out Zubairov 0-1. He seems a smidge stronger than Bo.
  • 4:07 Ankle Pick! T2 Bo 2-1
  • 3:20 Caution & 1 for hands to face 3-1
End of 1st
  • 2:20 Hi-C for Bo 5-1. Guy looks gassed
  • Lots of head fakes from Bo, no commited shots.
  • 0:25 Slide by 7-1
  • 0:20 Duck under 9-1
That's how it ends! Finalist!

A well-rested Bo up vs Zubairov (AZE) in semi on Mat A right now.
  • Bo tries to slide by, AZE counters with upper body, Bo backs off. Interesting exchange.
  • AZE chases Bo, who steps out, 0-1.
  • Lots of hands to the face by AZE, there's a warning.
  • Bo with a slick ankle pick, 2-1.
  • 3-1 caution (hands to face?)
  • Break
  • Bo with a high c, up 5-1.
  • AZE with a chest lock, but can't turn Bo, they're on their feet again
  • Bo up 7-1 on a shrug off a failed AZE upper body try
  • 9-1 sweet duck under, and that's time

Kerk v Goloev (RUS) semi
Kerk reaches with a single and RUS goes behind. Two guts and it's 6-0.
Another single attempt comes up short, another go behind, and one more gut makes it a 10-0 tech.
