On coaching...
- This staff has really gelled over the past month and it's been bearing fruit on Saturdays. Patience was needed even if no one wanted it - we entered the season with a new OC, new DC and new OL coach. Throw in all of the youth throughout the lineup and it was quite simply not realistic to expect instant success given that September schedule.
- 1 sack allowed vs. OSU on Saturday. ONE. Can't credit Morehead and Limegrover enough for what they'd doing with this offense.....and McSorely for how he's running it. While that sack number could easily be worse with a less athletic QB, holes to run through and time to pass are quite ample.
On freshman players...
- Miles Sanders quietly getting into a groove. With each touch on the kicking game he's closer to breaking one to the house.
- Over the last 25 minutes of the game, OSU had 5 drives:
6 plays, 17 yds (punt)
6 plays, 12 yds (punt)
3 plays, 3 yds (block punt)
11 plays, 59 yds (block FG return for TD)
10 plays, 12 yds (turnover on downs)
DL getting a lot of young guys quality playing time with Winsor, Givens, Buchholz and Miller all contributing in the clutch
Back to coaching...
I'm not sure there's a coordinator in the country that has done a better job from week 1 to the present than Pry (and our D assistants). The silver lining to so many injuries was getting young guys some valuable experience. That we've been able to do that and still get to 5-2 is quite remarkable. The future up and down this roster is as promising now as its ever been.
