Ut Oh….

"Desanto running" ....??..........I can hop faster than that.....backwards
"He's freaking out"...............Seriously? Yeah.....the announcer saying it sounded like someone took a Machete to his arm.
"He was staring at someone" OMG......the electric chair is too good for him!

"And That's the Way it Was".............Walter Cronkite

Yea, "he's freaking out" on and "staring down" the parents of his opponent for cheering for their son.... yea, that's highly appropriate behavior for an NCAA Athlete representing their school - Iowa should be proud of this behavior. BTW, if it was so harmless and appropriate, could you explain why Brands intervened in the situation and “Brands is grabbing him by the neck..." according to the mat commentator on the red mat locking directly at the scene taking place directly in front of him?

I think that is a good idea to have him ready for next season. Especially when suriano shows up in an opposing singlet this season.

Well, the "absolute zero tolerance" policy supposedly being put in place by Iowa as an admissions condition (after AD intentionally tried to hurt another wrestler at Nationals and got kicked out of Drexel) has not really been adhered to by Iowa. Desanto has no business going into the stands and confronting any fan, let alone confronting someone for merely cheering for their son - AD's opponent. If it was all so kosher, why precisely did it require Brands to go into the stands after him???
Whatever meds he was on during most of last season...he needs to get back on them. I said it last postseason and I'm holding firm to it. There was a huge difference between regular season Desanto and the Desanto we saw in March. It was blatantly obvious..

Hard to infer much of anything from audio of announcers describing something clear across the gym. If you take their interpretation as accurate, it sounds like Brands intervened in some sort of dispute, but it's next to impossible to characterize that dispute given the range of accounts offered thus far. For all we know Brands could have overreacted out of extreme caution. Whatever it was, it couldn't have been too serious because Brands, Eierman, and DeSanto appear to have a short, not-especially-heated-looking talk and then walk out of the gym. If it hadn't involved DeSanto no one would be talking about it at all.

You dont have to start him to “have him ready“ for next season. Other than stupidity I can only think of one other reason he would wrestle attached.

Edit, just realized maybe you were referring to Lee?

Not a bizarre take, but I’m sure you’ll get shit for it. Full disclosure - father of 2 autistic boys - 18 and 14. They are very low functioning (so unlike ADS) and my older boy has had escalating issues with aggression - resulting in two separate 911 calls by me, a stay in a state facility for 6 weeks last fall, and constant efforts by me and his mom to find a medical cocktail to dial down the chronic anxiety that triggers his outbursts. He and I live in my house because his mom is scared of him (and he really has to control himself even in the short periods they spend together), and she has my little guy for the last 8 months or so so he’s away from the stress. He’s about 6’1”, 200 and has beat on me a few times, but I can handle him if need be (bar arms are very helpful) - plus his motor skills are awful so he hasn’t yet picked up a knife. We are in a better place right now as we’ve got him on good meds, but it’s still like living with a smoldering volcano.

Anyway, why am I saying all this? Well, a lot of kids on the spectrum have major anxiety issues - most not on my son’s level, but still. We’ve become quite familiar with a wide range of anti-anxiety meds, anti-psychoactives, etc. that many of these kids are on. What do some of these meds have in common - appetite increase, dizziness, tremors, sluggishness, etc. And many of them if you titrate them down to counter the side effects cause the original symptoms to come roaring back quickly. I know if I cut the dose of certain meds my boy takes, it would not be a good time in a few hours.

Now, this is not a good place for nuance (and I don’t have the time for a dissertation), but the autism spectrum is a complex concept and a lot of these kids need highly specific and supervised med regimens.

It was only a matter of time until somebody threw out the DeSanto Autism canard. Again. Death and taxes.

There is only one place on earth where he is autistic: on this board. Well, OK, probably some Twitter randos too.

Prove me wrong. Not with theories and personal anecdotes. With links.

LOL. I actually got really lucky. Went back and watched the match. Saw the mat across from it was red. Clicked on the full replay of that mat. Clicked about 2/3 of the way through that video, and the match was in progress. Took about 3 minutes of internetting :)
May we nominate you for the open Nittany Nation Investigative Journalist position?

There are some people who don’t want to disclose, some who are in denial, etc., etc. John Travolta’s kid was clear as day on the spectrum, but the family were scientologists who deny autism is even a thing. Anyway, the kid had a seizure in the bath and died because the Travolta’s denied the efficacy of seizure meds along with the autism.

So maybe you’ll never see a link, but references to him being on the spectrum are all over the place - are they all BS? Maybe, as a lot of stuff on the inter webs is BS. I’ll tell you one thing - if I ever met him, I’d be able to tell in less than a minute if he was or not. 18 years of hard won experience leads me to feel pretty confident there as my autism spectrum radar is always functioning.

All that said, I’ll let it go. Autism should not be a scarlet letter - it is a neurological condition.

I wonder if this has anything to do with Willie’s Big10 news that’s supposed to come out this week?

Let’s do a hypothetical. An adult male rapes someone and you’re the police detectives. The rapist tells you lie after lie about the victim all of which you know are untrue. Does anyone on here stand up against the rapist or do you entertain his lies and blame the victim for that which they did not do?

Is that why the mat commentator said, "Brands just grabbed him by the neck!"? Also noticed it was your first post on this board..... interesting.... Things that make you go hhhhmmm. LMAO
How long was Brands assaulting DeSanto? It isn't on the video....but I figured you would know how long he grabbed his neck or throat and what time Brands disciplinary hearing is. Or was it self-defense? Please describe.....we wait with baited breath. Preemptive eyeroll :)

First, it was there was no proof that any of these accounts was an eyewitness accounting. Now, shown video proof that the mat announcer on the adjoining mat, directly opposite the mat AD v CS was on and who was not only an eyewitness to the event, but commentated on what he was seeing.... is now full of shit and exaggerating because he's out to persecute Iowa and AD (as if this outburst is anything different than AD has done repeatedly since he's been at Iowa including his outburst at NCAA's this past March (that time the media was the target of his ire)). What the mat commentator says is very unambiguous and he doesn't describe the harmless interaction you're trying to sell.

Looks like this was discussed on HR. Other than questioning why they did it at the Luther Open, most don’t seem too concerned. Seems the consensus is with Ayala, this may Ybarra’s best chance to get some starts with Spencer likely wrestling a light schedule.
