Whisky V Iowa

Not as far as the team score goes. Iowa looks pretty good so far this year. ( and just wait until next year!)

But maybe a few upsets at individual weights. 165 for example.

I personally don't think this will be all that close, team-wise. 133, 141 and 165 match-ups are intriguing, and the Hawks will learn something about their heavy. A couple other bouts will be close too...home mat will be a factor.

BTW, it's being broadcast on BTN.

Man I hate to say it but I think I would bet the field against SLee from winning both the Olympic spot and another natty.

But if anyone can pull it off it might be him.

Gosh is he tough and such a high wrestling IQ

This should be interesting in more ways than one.

DeSanto with the first takedown, 2-1 after a Gross escape,
Period ends 2-1 DeSanto.

Neutral, followed by two DeSanto takedowns, it's 6-2 DeSanto.
2nd period ends.

3rd starts with DeSanto down.
Gross riding tough, but hasn't been close to turning him.

DeSanto wins, and looked really good doing it.

Damn, that was dangerous on DeSanto's arm. That could have easily been an injury.

Gross really did not look good. Let Desanto in on his legs with no defense. That being said, desanto looks really good.

Gross got a little careless on those takedowns and paid for it. Can't take anything away from DeSanto though. He saw the openings and went for it.

Surprised by the upset, a bit. But every high-level guy that has faced Austin has had trouble the first time out: Micic, Suriano, now Gross; RBY even. He does seem to be diversifying nicely, though. What a pace!

Interesting takes from some. Really hard to give an Iowa wrestler credit, I'm guessing.

Murin v Moran coming up …

2-2 midway through the 2nd period. Takedown by Murin, 2 escapes for Moran.
3-2 Murin after a quick escape in the 3rd.

Murin wins 3-2.

Gross was awful, but hand it to DeSanto, he really took it to him. Is the cut affecting Gross? Not saying it is, just wondering out loud.

Gross looked world-beating at Bill Farrell at 57 kg. Different sport, but that fire was not there tonight

Lugo with two takedowns, one in each period, it's 5-2 after the 2nd.

Not much in the 3rd, Lugo wins 5-3.
