My only beef with this take is conflating this practice with actual journalism. The 4th Estate is dead.

I called out one of our own for not giving Iowa any credit and it got a lot of likes from PSU fans. Honestly, I don't care to rip someone's "prediction" no matter how far off it seems. Last year, you would have laughed at someone saying your dual with Iowa St. was going to be close. You never know. As for our Arizona St. loss, knowing the situation with our wrestlers, many on here and on Twitter stated their concern with the result of that dual. I was far from shocked with the result. I knew we were in danger, especially after Verkleern went down.
And I should have been called out. Sometimes I let the rivalry get in the way of what is really important and that is this is about kids living their dream win or lose. I need reminded of that and I am grateful to be part of a board where that is done in a nice way and doesn't involve name calling

They got one at 184 -- which means pick 1 out of 141, 149, and 165. Iowa won those 3 weights by a combined 5 pts.
Wisconsin winning was unlikely but plausible. Was it really any more unlikely than the Iowa Best Case Scenario actual result?

I never thought I'd say this before, and it's not only because they're good this year, but I'd much rather Iowa won than Ohio State... Even more much much rather Penn State, obviously, but if I had to choose between two evils, Iowa is lesser in my world now.

That documentary on Eli Stickley and Alex..and Moriah and the Stickley family was well worth the watch ...a real tragedy for sure...but very humanizing to see everyone work thru that event ....think we forget that at times in our vigor to build up our particular team members and diminish other teams wrestlers ..these are real people. Alex came across as a very different (and positive) person than I think a lot of people visualized ..only knowing him as a wrestler.
Nick is wrecking guys this year. Murin will get majored minimum. A Fall or Tech wouldn’t surprise me.
I'm going to be rooting hard for Cenzo to win a third NCAA title this year, but if it does end up being Marinelli, I won't be completely disappointed. My oldest and closest friend passed away in 2014 from melanoma, and I lost another very close friend a few years before that due to esophageal cancer. Losing someone who you were very close to has to be one of the hardest things to go through. A special prayer goes out to Alex and his wife that they will be comforted for their loss.
When that happens they usually get called out. Most likely nobody is going to check with you for ideas about who and when.
You keep wearing your badge and pointed hat though.
I've had so much fun with Iowa fans at nationals over the years. I've run into only a few who weren't a lot of fun, but, I KNOW that PSU has a small group that are obnoxious (I've run into them too). The great thing is that there is a good natured ribbing involved, which is part of the fun. This year is going to be crazy. I was thinking about missing this year, but, with what might be a crazy finish, I might need to head to Minnesota.
I will say that last year was the first year I missed in a LONG time. I had an incredible setup at home with multiple TV's and laptops. It was pretty fun. I did miss the hanging out with the wrestling family both at the arena and between sessions. You actually get better views at home with the awesome technology. I do worry about the views in Minnesota and if it's worth it. I think prices will be way down this year.
By the way, I'll call out a PSU fan several years ago. I'm friends with the Zanetta family (they are absolutely AWESOME!) Though she dislikes PSU, Mrs. Zanetta and I have always got along. At a bar in Oklahoma City, after her son lost in the blood round, she went up to the bar with me following close behind. A PSU fan at the bar, looked at her in her Pitt gear and said why are you guys too big of p$ssy's to wrestle a real schedule. I stepped in and told the PSU fan that he is the kind of guy that gives us a bad name. He rolled his eyes and turned back to his drink. I only tell this story to remember that there are good and bad in ALL fanbases.
This is going to be an exciting year, whether we add another, or are dethroned.
That documentary was incredible. I'll admit I was moved to tears more than once. I'm a PSU fan through and through. I'll obviously be rooting for PSU and Cenzo, but, if Alex Marinelli wins a championship, there will be a part of me that is smiling inside. What a great kid. (As is Cenzo)
Nick has definitely stepped it up this year, so, him getting bonus is not out of the question. Guys like Murin are tough to score on though. He just has that solid base and makes it tough to break through. That said, Nick's improvement on top is going to be a game changer. He also added obvious strength. I like his chances. That kid does everything the right way and is a blast to watch. Him winning it all would not shock me and could make the difference in keeping our championship run alive.
Nick Lee may be wrecking guys so far this season, but he also has yet to wrestle a top 30 opponent. Lee's best opponent to date this season has probably been the Simon kid from Central Michigan, whom Lee beat at the Army Invite by decision (11-5). And I believe that Murin has only given up bonus once in his college career so far, which includes twice holding Lee to a regular decision last season.
So, yeah, Lee could bonus Murin, but it's far from a sure thing. Mostly because Murin is stingy and rarely gives up a lot of points.
Luckily I live in Iowa City and have relatives with season tickets in the 22nd row.

If it isn't going to be Penn State I would much rather see Princeton catch lighting in a bottle.
If I have to go with realistic, next year Cornell is going to be a handful.

True story: a friend once misspelled beer.
The context: full-day State College bar tour for his bachelor party. Started 11:30 am. He had to write down the name of each drink + location. The error occurred after midnight -- by then he had drunk enough to sink a ship. That he could even hold the pen was impressive.
