Yo Matter

Haha, I read through those threads earlier. They seem to take a "professional sports fan" attitude towards lambasting their student-athletes. What's more, they make Iowa fans seem tame when it comes to complaining about the officiating (while seemingly not having a grasp of the rules).

Other than a couple jackasses alleging Aguilar is on weed, their comments were similar to the invective thrown here at Verk. (And before him, at Gulibon and the Altons.)

The ref whining was over the top.

But the best comment was the one blaming the volunteer assistant coach. Yeah, that's the problem.

I decided to give up my season tickets in Piscataway partly because of the ignorant (as in not knowing the rules) commentary from those around me that I had to absorb every match. "Why is the ref giving 4 backpoints? It's 3."

Not knowing backpoint rules is not limited to Rutgers fans.
Did anybody watch the OSU Maryland match. The 197 pound match, 3rd period the Maryland kid put Singletary on his back twice. The first time for nearly a 6 count and 20 seconds later with a new hold for a 2 or 3 count and he got 2 points. Even after reviewing the first sequence.
The two refs were apparently new to wrestling themselves.

Willie is on a rampage about this weekend's officiating.

Plus other tweets with video evidence.

Refs: “Rules? We don’t need no stinking rules!”

That was bad the ref swiped 4 times. Also block comes in at 1:32 they review and put clock at 1:22.Nothing counts that happens after the block comes in so he can't get the 2nd set of backs but should get the 10 seconds back on the clock.Call was butchered from the start. And I like him as a ref and think he does a good job. That call I'm good with bitching about. The calls where the ref is out of position and slow getting to hard to bitch this year they're rusty. It's hard to get in a groove doing 10-20 matches a week.Refs usually get a bunch of opens get going a little then into Big 10 this year they didn't get that.Im all for being critical of officials but this year to me we have to take things into consideration. We are seeing way more bad calls then normal and I think the reason is obvious

I hear you but my sympathy goes to Smith. That botched sequence cost him the match.

197 — Chase Singletary def. Jaron Smith (MD) | SV1, 4-2

The ref in the OSU/Maryland match has got to be hands down the worst ref in D1 wrestling. The guy is always in the midst of controversy it seems.
That was a horrible call no doubt. The guy who did NC vs NC St is really bad he has no confidence in his calls.

Watching Iowa / Illinois, I was wondering if in all my years of wrestling I never new what constituted a fall and what didn’t.

Also, I think the ref was calling stalling like he could here the Iowa crowd even though Carver was nearly empty.

I love this comment! Those putrid imaginary Iowa fans in the stands are playing 4D chess with those refs heads!

Um, you’re quoting me but I never wrote that. It’s a direct quote from KCLion just above your post.

That said, his post is amusing.

My bad. Not sure how I did that. That's what happens when I try to work during my wrestling board posting time
This would never happen if you had enrolled in Jammen’s Troll School. Message Board Multitasking is a mandatory 3 credit class.
There is no Iowa branch campus, but there are campuses in nearby Minnesota and Nebraska

If @WildTurk had attended Jammen's Troll Camps, then he would've instead quoted himself posing as an authority -- indirectly, by linking to his own post on some other board.

That kid from Maryland was jobbed.

Elite Tom says both refs earned Black Shirts. Come on @NCAA!

You were the last person I would have guessed to have had season tickets.... O________O;

I think we are all taking up a collection to get him Back in the RAC!

Chickenman, this is one of the best titles I've ever seen here.

Trust me, I was at the first match at the RAC and went to most matches at the College Avenue gym that had decent opponents. I started getting season tickets the first year Rutgers joined the B1G. It's not like I don't know and/or haven't seen Rutgers wrestling. The main reason I stopped was the wrestling I was seeing and the downward spiral of the program (despite the window dressing) since the 2015-2016 season, which is still the high water mark for the program - by a long shot. That and the continuing bs that the program was "headed in the right direction". Sure. Fifth place in the B1G tourney in 2015-16 with a champ and 10 top 8 placers and going lower each year since. 12th place in 2019-2020 with one 6th and one 7th. That's not the right direction. But Rutgers fans will argue about that. 🤣
