Had a chance…ball hit him in head…failNo, I'm picking Denmark. Because he has shown the ability to make catches in traffic in his H.S. film. And Franklin has admitted that Denmark has "flashed" pretty consistently in practice from the first part of Fall practice.
Just sayin!
And I also said that that process should have take place a couple games ago, especially againt Purdue when it was pretty much a give that PSU would have an easy win, so that Denmark could be a bigger factor in the last 2 games and into the playoff if PSU wins that last 2 games. And with it being pretty obvious that PSU needs help at WR it seems that redshirting Denmark, if indeed he has the ability to improve the WR unit, shouldn't be a priority this season.
And no Zach Edey this year but still a very difficult game. Piling up all these non con wins will help us come tourney time and team evaluations.I think this team is better than Shrew's tourney team. Things get real on 12/5 when Purdue comes to the BJC. We could be 8-0 and ranked.
The key to me is the WRs can't do anything to make us better. They are really dead weight. It's like basketball team with 4 good players and one lousy one. Of course you would not give the ball a lot to the lousy one thinking more touches would magically lead to points and elevate the team. Just try to hide the weakness on offense and hope they play decent defense. Maybe hit a wide open layup. That is where we are with these wide receivers. They are just there and don't do much of anything. Maybe they can get open on Allar's third read on some plays. Block for our studs and don't commit penalties. Disappointing as all get out but that is what we have. We will have an incredibly difficult time beating an elite team with this group of non productive wide receivers but it is our reality. In '23, perhaps so, but our defense was excellent. It was a good strategy to ride a strong defense while hoping the offense could generate enough points to win. It failed in 2 games. Just so happened that our schedule included the #1 and #5-6 teams last year.
Prior to '23, Franklin never seemed intent on not turning the ball over. Do you not remember Clifford and Levis playing fast an loose? Even Trace had a penchant for slinging it wildly.
This year, it seems like we do exactly what we need to to win and that's it. Our offense is based off our strengths. It just so happens, WR is far from a strength. I don't think our offense improves simply by throwing more or rotating different WRs. The young guys may have a higher ceiling, but dropping their first 2 passes isn't a positive "give me more reps" stance.
I can honestly say I didn't know who Mineo was, I did not know he was just a fan with a following, I thought you were media.
@nerfstate thanks for thinking of a question like that and thank you Mineo for answering.
go iowa TROLLS! lol
If Ohio State has losses to 1 and 2 they're not falling far. Penn State and Ohio State would be 4/5 in some order maybe 6 if they really love ND which I doubt. The SEC teams aren't higher because they have bad losses other than Georgia. No they won’t be ranked higher than PSU in that case. Head to head does not trump number of losses. OSU will fall to somewhere between #6-10 with the two loss SEC teams and they would fall behind PSU (assuming we beat Minnesota) and Indiana if they lose to Indiana this week.
I find it hard to believe they would name a store Kum & Go.
Caliendo, Ferrari and Kennedy. 90 points. I suspect they’ll manage a transfer or two, giving them over 100.If Iowa isn't able to get new transfers next year, can they field a top 6 team in 2026? They will have Ayala, Keuter, and Arnold, so maybe 40-50 points. Three AAs max.
I think it started in 2022. The Northwestern game was pretty bad even though we won it but then the OSU DE had such a ridiculous game against us when Clifford threw all those picks. Seems like since the middle of that season he's been infatuated with winning the turnover battle. In '23, perhaps so, but our defense was excellent. It was a good strategy to ride a strong defense while hoping the offense could generate enough points to win. It failed in 2 games.
